I probably don't need to, but I've just been considering taking out the 2 little speed bumps right on the forearm tip of my cheapo synthetic ADL. It shoots a little over 1/2 inch with the 105s, but I guess I'm a fool that is always chasing the last little bit of accuracy. Have you guys done this to guns that shoot well, and seen an improvement? Or should I just leave it be?

But dood, it's the best in the world... Shouldn't it shoot 1/8th right out of the box?

+1 to Ingwe's response, things could always go the other way. 1/2" groups with a factory tupperware is pretty good for sure.

I sand them out on any rifle that has them, like this one:
1975 Remington M700 BDL, .308 Win, purchased used in 2005
Development loads - all successive shots had 0.5g increase in powder charge

Love it when a used rifle shoots MOA but this was a real pleasant surprise. Didn't do a thing to it except dump the bump. Not bedded.

Remingtons almost never need anything done to them if you can shoot. Some can't, and blame the rifle.

I wouldn't waste any time dicking with a factory tupperware stock, especially if it shoots ok.

Test it.
Put some card stock under the barrel near the recoil lug.
That will let the barrel clear the speed bumps.
If accuracy is better, take them out. If not leave them.
However, have you checked the torque on the action screws, scope rings etc? If it has a three postion safety; is it dragging on the firing pin? Is the crown good? Is it wearing a Chinese scope?

The problem with a Dremel is that it isn't good for putting material back.

That's a dangerous situation. It usually results in me messing around with bedding/floating on one of my rifles...

Of course, if they're all bedded and floated to my liking, then I resort to taking my daily dose of dry-fire practice. grin

If it shoots 1/2 leave it alone! My niece has a 7mm08 youth model 700 that was shooting 1.5 inches at best till I removed the speedbumps. Now it shoots <0.5. guess it wasn't perfect out of the box smile
