I was at a local gun shop today.There was a NEW NEF 12ga single shot shotgun on the rack. It had a synthetic stock, rifled bbl I assume couldn't look down the bore it was locked up. I did stick my little finger down the muzzle and felt rifling. scope base and no sights. They were asking $129.00 + tax & bg check. I didn't get to handle it, I was in a hurry. Was this a good deal? Ican't seem to find one on line to compare.

There Ultra Slug Hunter has a fanatical following.

The one I saw was a lot lighter and didn't have a heavy a bbl. I have handled the ultra slugger and it felt like it weighed 9 or 10 lbs mabe more. I did get to lift this one a few inches out of the rack and it was pretty light. Guess ill go back in the am and get my paws on it and see what it really is.

The stock on those guns is not the best design and will beat you pretty good. I think you will want the weight of the USH for slugs. The USH though is not too bad.

I found it. Its called the H&R ULTRALIGHT SLUG HUNTER. It weighs in at 5 1/2 lbs with a fully rifled 12ga 3" chamber bbl. Ill look at it sat morning.

Has anyone ever tried tried one ov these? What slug do they prefer. Im used to getting beat up with big bore rifles. So pain is not a issue.
My NEF 3/12" turkey gun with 2 oz loads are pretty stout. My friends 458 lott that I shoot is not real pleasent, but tollorable. And my 45-70 guid gun pacts a pretty good punch and kills @ both ends, are noticeabbe. I just thought a single shot, shot gun shot gun would be a challenge. I have owned several NEF & H&R centerfire rifles in the past and was very impressed with the accuracy. Im willing to take a chance with this one.

For the price, I would take the chance on it

my younger brother has one and absolutly love its. called and asked and he said he picked his up from a gander mountain new for 160. has a ol fixed 4x store brand scope and shoots the hornady sst's. i shot it bout 2 years ago when i was home on leave and it kicked hard but it was managable. bout 6-7 inch groups at 200yds over shootin stix

So would I! Try Remington 'Slugger' slugs. They're mild and shot well in a Tracker I had.

The 12ga ultra slug hunter is made with the same bbl blank that NEF/H&R uses to make their 10ga barrels.

As for the lightweight slug guns or Tracker 1/11 models, they're also excellent slug shooters.

$120-$130 would be a decent price for such guns.
