I am saddened by the three FN Mauser limit as well. whelennut

Now, who can tell me. Which of these actions, has had their bolt handle attached to the bolt at the factory, compared to made out of one piece, with the bolt?
The later i far more labour intensive, and should command a higher price.

I honestly don't know. Why would that be important?

The small ring Husky's can be made into quite nice, lightweight sporters if that is what you are after.

The later i far more labour intensive, and should command a higher price. The Brnos have their bolr handles made integral with the bolt bodies, AFAIK, and so did the HVA and FN actions. I have never known of a rifle from Brno without a fully integral bolt, that is the way they all should be made.

I would presume that all Mausers, at least 98s, were chewed out of forgings, handle and all. Looks that way from the various milling marks. As for attaching at the factory, I doubt that much. Even those of us who butcher, or have butchered, the bolt handles know that a properly welded-on bolt handle is just as sound as virgin forged steel. But yeah, these Mauser pictures are making me jealous for another FN or Sears or HandR or Husky.

I have been sporterizing Mausers for 46 years.
I like what ever Mausers are coming into the country or have come in recently enough so the prices are reasonable.
Right now I like VZ24s.
Sporterizing Mausers is never cost effective. Just buy a Winchester or Kimber. Typing this post is not cost effective. You have to want to do it.

That is on a HVA "improved" action, the quite common smallring actions sold in North America, under the "Husqvarna" marque and, later, some by Smith and Wesson.
They are nice, I have two customized ones, but, they do not compare to the smallring Brno 21/22 rifles.

Here are some pics of my Husky 146 9.3 x 62. Barrel band front sling swivel, one standing rear sight sleeved to barrel. Holds five down and one in the chamber.

No, but it is factory bottom metal. Some are made of steel. Terry
