Can't believe the direction the laws in this country are leading! This occurred a few blocks away so it hits close to home... is this really Canada??? Bet the man doesn't even own a firearm.

This kind of statist-fascist atrocity against average, native-born Canadians is a commonplace occurence in contemporary Canada. This nation has always been a corporate fiefdom and this situation has NOTHING to do with "socialism", it is a combination of all too typical Canadian apathy and submissive behaviour towards "authority"....and, with our changing demographic makeup and powerful teache's and copper's unions, it is getting WORSE.

I have lost all respect for Canadian police and public school administrators as well as many, NOT ALL, teachers. I like to spar here with the redoubtable BCBrian, but, I know that if he had been involved, this kind of crap would not have happened.

"This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but, a whimper"...........sad, eh, "The True North, Strong and Free", what a phuquing joke that once-proud slogan has become!

This incident is the worst that I have heard of over the years. It really reflects the abuse of power at many levels. After teaching for over 30 years I can see it happening as the antifirearm attitude was pushed upon female teachers by their union at every opportunity. The same union was a major funder of the Coalition for Gun Control.
It makes you wonder if we will see more flagrant attacks on individuals by those who were avid supporters of the long gun registry.
I have no doubts that those involved in reporting this incident knew exactly what type of action they were initiating.

Ontario is the most anti gun of all provinces in Canada, and has been very heavy handed in dealing with anything possibily connnected to firerms. I feel for the man and his family. GRF

That's the problem here Bill, there is no logic being applied by those who are supposed to be serve and protect and by those we entrusted to teach our children in the government school system.

In the Toronto School Board system, I was brought in to speak to the students of a middle school about my life. I was asked to speak of hunter/gatherer lifestyle, sustainability, environmental responsibilaty and accountability.

I did all of that and included the important role firearms took in the life of one involved in the life I led. I was surprised by the acceptance I recieved and the willingness of the student body and staff to accept my point of view. I was questioned intently and answered honestly.

All in the school were surprised that one of their teachers, my daughter, was so well versed in hunting fishing and gardening. She has been able to direct a number of her fellow teachers to firearm safety and hunter safety courses. I am invited back later this spring to do asimilar program.

We have a responsibility to present a responsible argument for our perspective. You can all do the same where you live. Local gun clubs and game and fish clubs can be accessed to help this out.

Do not sit back and expect the situation to improve.

Randy

By the way when my girls were in grade school I garnered permission of the school board and principal and all of the students were put tthrough a firearm safety program which included shooting at our local range. An educated person is a safe person and takes firearm use responsibly.

Southern Ontario, fellas......... Southern Ontario. Up here, firearms are a way of life.

Quebec is fiercely active in its efforts to maintain emotional gun control, also, which we're watching as they try to battle with the Fed gov't over getting their own LGR set up.

Maybe we can just draw a circle on a map around southern Ontario and Quebec, and then set up some border patrol stations around the perimeter of that circle wink

Do we all remember this:

Airport security officials brand three inch toy gun "firearm"

Seems we still have a lot in common with Britain. laugh

The principal, social workers, nd chief of police should all be handcuffed, strip searched, and incarcerated for a day. A portion of their salaries should be attached to compensate the victim. GD

If he owned ANY firearms - even if safely stored by the book - the story would have been differently written. The police would have charged him anyway with unsafe storage at the least (police do this by default) and then felt good about their righteous bust - high fives all around for keeping the world safe.

Yes many police forces from the RCMP on down to municipal forces have lost touch with what is right and reasonable any more - especially in regard to lawful ownership and lawful use of firearms. Police are increasingly losing the respect of many law abiding citizens IMO.

If this ever sees a courtroom, no Crown Attorney worth his salt will prosecute, IF the facts are as reported.

Just a few minutes ago, on Can. Gun Nutz, I was reading some postings relating to someone who had their home and gun safe broken into. If the reporting is correct the police apparently did nothing more than charge the individual with unsafe storage even though the guns involved were in a safe. The poster apparently was unable to find any indication that the police were making an attempt to find the burglars. Apparently their efforts ended with charging the homeowner.

Just another example of why so many Canadians have lost all faith in their police services. As I have said many times, we don't have a justice system, we have a legal system.

Jim
