Finally got out with the 7KS, some results for interested folks
I did not test these loads for accuracy.

Conditions:
15 Feb 2012
Elevation ~600' ASL
Temp 4 Deg C
RH ~68%
Atm Pressure ~1019.5
Overcast
Wind Nil
Chronograph ProChrono Digital

Load Data:
Bullet 225 Nosler Partition
Case Remington
Primer CCI 200
Powder Reloader 15
Crimp None

59 grains: 2645 fps, no pressure signs.
60 grains: duplicate 2645, no pressure signs.
61 grains: 2704 fps, slight primer cratering.
62 grains: 2772 fps, no primer cratering but slightly sticky extraction and shine on case head.
Had 63 loaded up but no need to fire it after seeing 62 grains

I also had some Remington 200 grain factory on hand. 3 fired over the chrono:
2624 fps
2583 fps
2594 fps
Avg 2600 fps
The three round group measured 7/8 of an inch center to center.

Will be testing with TAC within the next few weeks and will follow up.

AG & RJM,
Nice to see co-owners of fine rifles in a rare and unappreciated cartridge!

AG...thanks for the data...I have the same chronograph...

May have to get some Reloader 15.. My standard load is 60 grains of Win. 748 with a 220 Speer or 225 Nosler Petition. From a 22" Classic the Nosler runs 2660. I was up to 62 grains in the mid 2700s but the recoil became unpleasant so I dropped down to 60 grains.

The velocity out an 18.5" 600 is in the mid-2500s...have not tested the load yet out of a 20". If Reloader 15 is running 2650 from a 20" tube that may be worth trying...

Interesting velocities on the 200 grain factory loads... They are supposed to be doing 2700 from a 18.5" barrel....

Thanks...Bob

ps...you also obviously tell lies as no Remington .350 Magnum factory ammo can shoot sub-moa groups...ask anyone who has never shot a .350...they'll tell you so.... grin

The 7KS had to be one of the best "semi-custom" hunting rifles ever built...their price got just a little ridiculous however...$2500??? My only wish is that it had been done in stainless like the M7AWR....

I did just buy this...shipped at 1600 CST today...should pick it up Saturday...

+1. Buying a NEW Rem Custom Shop KS is insane. Used at half the price is a bargain!
DMc

PS.. Wouldn't it be awesome if we could buy that proprietary Remington stock from McMillan?

Most of the used ones I see are in the $1100-1700 range depending on the caliber. I was very very lucky on mine. firearms44 sent me a link to a GB auction....the BuyNow was $800.00.... Then a few weeks later he found another one for $800.00... I had just missed one a few months before for $950.00 with a Leupold scope on it...

Remington stopped making the 7KS in 2011 I believe...new ones are $23-2600.00.

Yea, it would be nice to be able to buy that stock...wonder if Remington sells them? Probably not as both the KS and AWR have been discontinued...

Paid $850 for my 350 RM KS and $1200 for my 35 Rem KS (1986 mfg) which is probably nuts, but I had to have one! The .350RM has a J-Lock that I'm dying to ditch! I have a new bolt shroud on order (supposedly), going thru a gunsmith which is taking forever to get here! The 35 Rem which has the camo stock & gloss blue, I'm thinking Cerakote, but there's sooooo many different colors! Tough decision!
DMc

PS: This is a pretty cool link: Cerakote colors

Here is my Mod seven KS. I had the sights removed and holes filled in, bedded, fluted, steel mag follower, etc. Started to use TAC and the 200 gr TSX recently. The rifle now has a 3.5-10x40 CDS Leupold with Talley mounts.

Sakoluvr, Very NICE! Who painted the stock? What color Cerakote if that's what it is?

Karl Kampfeld did all of the work. It is olive drab/black web.

I'm going to change out my mounts for the Talley's as well but plan to stick with the Leupold 2-7 compact that's on her now.

I've got a 350 Rem. mag. in a 700 Classic. I wanted something to shoot Mi. whitetails with. I found 2-boxes (200) of Rem. 150grn. .358 PSPCLs, loaded them down to 2800fps. with IMR4064. They shoot one ragged hole at 100yds. and the recoil is nill. Shot a buck and a doe with them, 40yds. and 75yds., no bullets to show ya but they worked great. When i chronyd. the 200grn factory, both old and new box i got a steady 2720fps. to 2740fps. and 1.25in. to 1in.. Got a hell of a deal here on the Fire a year or so ago so i bought 7-8 boxes just to have. Haven't tried the heaver longer bullets yet but don't expect any problems thanks to Tac. Really like my 350, fun to shoot and will handle anything i'm going to get to shoot, unless i hit the lottery LOL. No real cons here. YMMV.

I should do that but I already have a few other 35s with glass on top. So no rush on that at present. I'm quite OK with the irons only. I'm a bush hunter and they are sure easy carry at 5 3/4 lbs (empty).

Cons: None! Well, maybe lack of factory ammo. Oh yeah - and nothing in eastern US big enough to justify it!

I bought my .350 Rem Mag 700 Classic new in spring of '86 when I found out I was PCSing to Alaska for a couple of years (thought maybe my 30/30 could use a little back-up). Set it up with a nice little Leupold 1.5-5X. Still have it - one of the most consistently accurate rifles I've ever used - 1/2 to 3/4 in groups with factory 200 grain (100yds), maybe closer to an inch with factory 250s (have a stash of 6 or 8 boxes that I found at a gun show years ago). Tried the new Nosler 225g partition loads a few years ago (ordered them from Midway USA)- same results, sub MOA easily (once I get settled down and used to the recoil).

The factory 200 grains PSPCL seemed a little light for the cartridge - took a nice caribou with one, found separated jacket and core under hide on far side - but it did go through the shoulder and a fair amount of bone on the way. Would definately go up to a good 225g for handloads.

Midway still shows the Nosler Custom factory loads on website - but listed as "Out of stock, backorder OK"

the .350 RM on the left, .350 WSM on the right, with bullets seated to fit their respective magazines.

but the 'ol M600 is still my favorite. i missed a stainless Ruger M77 with boat paddle stock in .350 and i've regretted it since

What are your ballistics with the 350 WSM?
