Just made a batch of Beer Bread to go with Fettuccini and sauce. Been making this since I was a kid since it is easy and easy to make in the field. We might not have yeast, but we always had flour, baking powder (or self rising flour) and BEER!!!!
Easy to make:
3 cups flour 4 tbsp Baking powder (alternate is 3 cups self rising flour) 3 tbsp sugar 1 12 oz. can room temperature beer
Bake at 350 degrees for an hour (if cooking over a fire that means hot but not scorching.....and watch it close.
If you have an egg or two.....throw them in, but it's not critical.
This is great for camping since nothing needs refridgeration. Self rising flour, suger and beer (could even use powdered eggs if you wish).
I hate change, it's never for the better.... Grumpy Old Men The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know

Good stuff!
A thick slice is a great substitute for a biscuit.

I have not made that in many years. I believe I used self rising flour, and yes, it's very good bread.
