A single shot? If so, what quary (pheasant, quail, grouse, duck, dove, ect)? What gun (16, 20, 28)?
Personally i've given thought to getting one, but i'll probably have to become a better wingshooter first lol!

still use a bunch of single shots from 10ga down to .410. Tote a 10 or 12 for turkeys and the rest for squirrels. for everything else I use O/Us, autos or pumps..

I was in Classic Arms in Lansing just before Christmas in 2010 and while browsing the used gun rack, saw a Stevens Model 94 single shot 16 gauge with tenite stock. When I examined it, I realized it was the exact same gun I sold in about 1972 when I still lived there. I recognized some of the marks on it. It was my very first shotgun and I earned it by working for my uncle.
Of course, I bought it ($100.00), brought it home, cleaned it up, and now it resides in my pickup. It's nice to have that old gun back.

I take my first gun, a Winchester Model 37 single shot .410, out once every season. Usually get a couple of cottontails and miss a couple of quail, but this year I killed two quail with it. Only missed one. Quail have bad days, too.
Several times that little gun was all that was left when I got done coming up with a new work car engine or a house down payment. It's killed quail, ducks, ruffed grouse, cottontails and snowshoe hares, and a grand total of two pheasants, all over this great land of ours! Bought it new in 1951.
Using a single shot shotgun for bird hunting is some very serious sport. (As long as you don't take it too seriously.....)
Was Mike Armstrong. Got logged off; couldn't log back on. RE-registered my old call sign, Mesa. FNG. Again. Mike Armstrong

I started with my grandfathers old Iver Johnson champion with a solid rib on the barrel. It was in bad shape and I moved on to a pump as soon as I could afford one. I later found another champion with the rib in good solid shape and bought it . I have been known to shoot at a dove or squirrel every now and then with it.

Yup. I have 12- and 20-ga. single shots, H&R and Savage. Just love hunting with them. Use them for quail, grouse, turkey, rabbits, and sometimes squirrel. Also coyotes and foxes when occasion presents itself.
Think direction first, then velocity.

I shot a deer right after some quail with my single shot 45/410 single barrel outfit....pretty dang versatile.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

Still miss my old Crescent Arms .410. Killed quite a few pheasants (including my first) and too many bunnies and sqirrels to count. Didn't realize that I would miss it so much until I sold it.
