You know I have to think the 19 is about the best glock ever made. If they made a 45ACP in a 19 size I would have to reconsider but since they don't the 19 in my opinion is the best! Some like the 40 I guess but I cannot see any reason for it. grin

Just picked up my first ever Glock last Saturday. Got a 19 because I've always been impressed by 'em. Couple years ago I got to play with one at the range and right then decided that I'm gonna get me one. Only problem was it took me two years to get around to it. They are accurate, reliable, well built, etc. etc. and I'm glad I finally got one. I'm actually more of a revolver guy but I fell in love with the Glock 19's.

I've often thought a Model 34 longslide might be interesting to try...

I don't particularly like Glocks but I see the utility ... at times. I'm more of a magnum revolver guy. I have small hands. That being the case, the Glock 29 compact (well, relatively speaking) 10mm seems like the best balance of size and power for me. The 20/21 are just too damn big for my hands.

( What I really want is a Glock 18 but doubt that's going to happen. smile )

A G19 would be my handgun if I could only have one.

They do make a 45cal G19 sized gun in 45 GAP. Same ballistics as the 45acp.

In the Glock stable the G19 is the best IMHO, just the right size, weight and is a very good duty and CCW IMHO. I have one and both my son & son-in-law chose them for on/off duty so as to always have the same gun to carry. They are both corrections officers for the County, my son just left the State corrections system to work for the County as it is more stable and pays considerably better than the State.

As a really small carry I also have a Kel-Tec P-11 as it has the same basic manual of arms and it smaller than the smallest Glock. And for REALLY discrete carry a K-T P-32 with CT triggerguard mounted laser.

With a Glock 19 and a Glock 21SF, an individual's defensive handguns needs are met quite nicely, in regards to autopistols.

Both models are great for the high volume shooter.

Glock 19. Best thing about them is you can buy two for the price of a good old Smith and Wesson and if you ever break a Glock, they're pouring more polymer into those molds every day grin

I agree with the G19. The perfect sized 9mm in my mind. I'm issued a standard G21 and its a bit of a handful. I'd love to try the SF version.

I have owned three or four Glock 19's and it is my favorite in the 9mm and have also owned the Glock 17, but no longer own either and prefer the Glock 23 and the Glock 32 for carry, but my favorite for non hunting and conceal carry is the Glock 36 .

Open carry or uniform G17 or 19

Concealed G19 or 26.

I know a guy who daily concealed a G34, he pulled it off.

If I had to say one was best for all purpose it would be G19 but I prefer the 17 specifically for duty.

Glock Perfection = Glock 17

For carry use you would be hard pressed to find better than a G-23/G-19

Or cut the 17's frame down for G19 mags. Same sight radius, two fewer rounds, easier to conceal. G17 mag for a reload.

Well if you can suffer a Glock then the 19 is pretty much top of the line. That being said I just cannot take the grip angle. S&W M&P is where it is at, maybe???? cool

Pretty hard these days to not like the 9mm with a good load. Kinda sucks that the 45 ACP vs 9mm worked out like it has unless you are open-minded and just want the best schit goin. laugh

no denying the glock is an acquired taste, however its like owning parachutes when you jump out the door to skydive I guess I would not want to think "which one am I wearing today and how does it operate" To me personally the USA sigs are suspect, the Springfield HD is not well accepted for some reason except by private individuals, now the Smth M&P seems to be a good gun someone shot something like +40K thru one and it was still going but I don't have one yet, most 1911's sadly are hit or miss I have one again now and like it but realize they are hit or miss, Kahr is an OK pistol but again I think also hit or miss and I have one, heckler and koch are great guns but expensive, Walther's I just don't know anything about them, and that leaves me having to drink Natural Light, eat ground chuck hamburgers(not sirloin) and shoot Glocks.

(The 36 is a thought! I need to look at one of those, had a 30 but it was fat for carry.)

I'd have to agree with the 19 as the all arounder. Recently added a 34 for home and light competition use and a 20SF for field carry to make them all identical. (The 34 is sweet by the way) Now the only thing that gets carried much that differs is the LCP and it's still "point and shoot". It is nice to have a familiar manual of arms and I just never did find the right 1911 for each of those niches.

I generally prefer the 1911 grip angle and have shot one enough thousand rounds to be comfortable with the safety manipulation on the draw but had one whose grip safety wouldn't always disengage with a high grip (not a big issue to fix) and it made me appreciate the simplicity of the Glock design in a stressful situation.

Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about.
