Yes. Read the description of the Hunters Edge on the McMillan website. The compact is the same stock w/o the edge fill. http://www.mcmfamily.com/mcmillan-stocks-ultralight-stock-list.php#uhuntersedgeIf you want it light.....do the Hunters Edge. If you want a swirly or camo.....do the Compact pattern with std fill. Compact/Hunters Edge is my favorite pattern at the moment. Weight, I believe.....will be about 22-24 oz for Hunters Edge and about 32-34 oz for std fill Compact.

The McEdge and the M7 are like peanut butter and jelly.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

The McEdge and the M7 are like peanut butter and jelly. I just put the Hunters Edge on my Model 7 XCR in 308. The balance is perfect with the mag contour barrel. I find the older ones with the thin barrel to be ass heavy

Skip the Compact for the Seven and get Mickey to give you the KS pattern with the rounded pistol grip instead. Way better ergos IMO, and I've had both, including the blind mag Compact of which you speak. The Compact is long gone once I had the KS in hand. Brown color is the Compact; camo color is the KS (though mine is an original from Brown Precision but the same pattern is now available from Mickey):

I just picked up a Hunters Edge for a 700, not 7, and love it. Looks and feels great, balances well, would certainly do it again. unpainted

The brown stock in DakotaDeer's pics must be from an older mould for the Compact/Hunters Edge. Mine are much more rounded in the belly area, without the flat bottom. Personally I love the pattern and would use it on a M7, but the newly available KS looks good too.

Possibly an older mould, but I doubt it as they haven't been out that long.
That "flatness" in the forend and sides is exactly what is bothersome. Further, I much prefer a small cheekpiece, which the KS has.
I'm a big fan of the rounded pistol grip also, as it allows a good placement "feel" for me whether I'm shooting with bare hands, light gloves, or even heavy mittens.
In general, I think that Brown Precision has a much better stock design ergonomically, but Mickey has much better execution in the build, fitting, and customer service. The now available Mickey KS pattern ought to be the best of both worlds so long as it is available in edge/lightweight construction.

This is the compact bottom side. Nothing flat about it. Last pic shows compact with 18.5" barrel. Forgive me.....KDK.

257 what is that one chambered in? 358 Win. I'm typically a faster is better kind of guy....but wanted a compact shorter-range thumper. Check my thread below for specs......when it was first in a Brown Precision stock. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...ort_to_Mid_range_Compact_Thu#Post5445933I'm totally in love with it.

Maybe Mickey changed the mold of the Compact then, but others have also noted the "flatness" not simply in the magazine area, but up through the forend itself. The sides tend to have a vertical orientation to them, rather than a fully rounded feel like the Mountain Rifle stock.
The Brown Precision stock (and I would assume the KS-pattern copy of it by Mickey) has a very nice round feel all the way through from magazine to tip. Combined with less drop and a small cheekpiece, it has the best ergos. One advantage is a significant reduction in felt recoil between the two stocks (shooting the same chambering side-by-side in the two different stocks).

To all, there are actually two different Hunters Edge/Compact molds for Remingtons. One with a more rounded bottom for blind magazine "ADL" applications and one with a slightly flatter bottom in the action area for floorplate models. And to the 137 people who will ask in the next 48 hours, No, we will not cross inlet them. If they would fit properly we wouldn't have had to make two expensive molds.

On a related note, I sent you guys an email a few hours ago asking if the old M7 KS pattern will be available for inletting with Model 600/660 actions. LOL.....
