My son is in the Navy and stationed in South Carolina. When he moved down there he took a rifle and his 1911 with him. Now he is transferring to Connecticut and wants to send his guns back home. Hows the best way to do it at the lowest cost? Thanks.

This is likely going to be a lively thread.... laugh

In his case, use UPS or FedEx Ground (with FedEx getting a huge nod over UPS). He can not mail, via the post office, the 1911, unless he has a dealer on his end get involved (extra cost).

Ship them to himself, in his name, and take leave enroute, going home for a bit in between. He can legally send them to himself back home.

Otherwise, ship them to a local FFL near you and you pick them up if he has to go straight to CT.

Those are about the simplest and easiest options.

Correct, succinct, and legal.. No need to go further.. My ONLY caveat would be to use Fed-Ex as first choice..
