Here is my new meat getter.

[Linked Image]

As you can see it is a Ruger tang safety chambered in 25-06. The barrel has been floated. The stock is a little lose around the action but I will have it bedded to fix that. I will be installing a Vortex Diamond Back 4X12X40 scope. Going to pick up a couple boxes of ammo and see how she shoots, before I get it bedded.

Looks good. My first centerfire rifle was a tang safty'd 30-06. It pretty much rusted out on me, but I sure had some fun with that rifle.

I recently traded for a 7x57. I like the tang safety models. I would have liked to see Ruger keep that feature. I wouldn't even shoot the rifle without bedding it first. If it doesn't shoot, you've proved nothing except that the bedding might be suspect. If it does shoot, it will still want bedding just for the sake of consistency. GD

I'd tighten that lug bolt gorilla tight before shooting it. My tang safety Roberts and mII 300wm both like it that way, and I see no reason to bed with the groups they shoot.

Loosen the screws front and back of the trigger guard, then go farmer tight on the lug bolt, tight on the back trigger screw, snug up the front trigger screw.

Only other thing I can offer is to clean out copper before shooting for groups.

Best of luck with it.

After that treatment, I'm very happy with my Rugers.

Reading the subject I was expecting to read a witty one-liner as his meet getter... smile
