What is wrong with people, I interviewed 5 people today for a position. The job would pay between 16-20 per hour starting out depending on experience. 3 of the 5 people came into the interview and said something to the effect that they only applied for the job to fulfill their unemployment and they had no desire to work, one guy even said I don't want to waist any more of your time and cut the interview short.

Another guy told us that he was only available from October till May, and he was unavailable May through October for a full time job.

WTF is wrong with people

I think you already know. Why work when you can get more than a year of unemployment. What field?

It's a damn shame you can't report a joker like that to the unemployment office and have them unplugged.

If they're much under 35 yrs old and there's any real work involved {meaning you might get sore muscles or a blister} you can pretty well bet they'll be next to worthless anyway. The only exception I've found to that is the ones who come from farm families.

Actually they were all well over 35, the only one that was worth a schit was in his early 30's, and calling his old employers he didn't get that good of a review.

I will say that our son shocked us this year. 20 years old. Decided not to go back to the college that he had been attending and was doing fine at. He had his mother and I sit down one night after the semester ended and said he wanted to change gears, get his welding certificate and then pipe welding certificate. Said he couldn't fathom having a desk job.
Shocked us to say the least. He is absolutely loving the classes he is taking now.

Interviewed a guy who sat sideways in an arm chair and wanted me to tell him why he should work there. Told him I could not think of a reason he should and walked out of the interview room.

Every time I have been without a job my main goal was to do whatever it took to get back to work. Today it sounds like we who believe in the importance of meaningful employment are a vanishing breed.

Actually had a young man whose parents owned a vacation home next to mine make the following statement about a possible job. "Don't have a license so I need a job where someone picks me up & drops me off at home. I can't stand someone giving me $hit so I need to be left alone when working. I have no trade or education, but for really good money I will work hard". I told him if he found such a job to call me I would also be interested.
While there are free loaders most people want to work & are willing to apply them selves. We own a family employment agency which my wife runs & there are many competent hard working people that need jobs.

Not sure how that would work, they never turn down the job and I sure as hell wasn't offering it to them...

things have been interesting, to put it nicely, with our buisiness partner the last few months.....mainly he isnt interested in allowing us to run it as a business and not his piggybank.....the wife and i have been talking bout what to do if we say [bleep] it and make him buy out her shares in the corporation(or be nasty and sell the shares to a guy he doesnt like grin )...

anyways Darla asked me what i would do if we left the paper.....said no clue, havent looked for a job in 11 years, hell wasnt looking when i found this one, you guys bribed me away from where i was at......BUT i can tell you i wont have a problem finding work....the reservation is full of ppl that want to sit on welfare and not work, aint that hard for someone that wants to work to find someone to pay them...ill have no problem finding something to keep the bills paid....
