I have been a hunter and shooter all of my life and recently started to try and shoot skeet. What would you "pros" recommend I purchase to get me started down this path? I am a working stiff looking for the best bang for my buck probably in an O/U. I am shooting a weatherby orion and it is fine but....................I think I need another option so i can compare. Thanks for the help!
How can I tell you bye if you wont leave?

Browning o/u, Beretta 682 or 687 line, or you could go Blaser, Kreigoff, or Perazzi if money is no object.

Beretta 682/686 if an O/U. If an auto fits your budget then a "USED" Beretta 303/390 or Win Super X model 1

To bad you didn't want to shoot trap. A guy has a Beretta 682 two barrel combo trap gun for sale for $3K here in the classifieds. Looks like its in excellent condition.

Yes sir and could easily have Richie Cole fit up a barrel for either skeet and sporting clays. Then you would have a total package! By the way its not mine, I thought about buying it. Just can not justify it as I really don't shoot all that much trap. Not to mention that very few around my area ever want to shoot trap doubles.

A working mans budget, an 1100 skeet gun is a hard one to beat.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I would recommend a Beretta 391 for a semi-auto or a Browning Citori for an over/under. My favorite is an older Citori sporting clays edition. The stock is a good configuration and it doesn't have that giant beavertail forearm. You can find them for 1000-1200 pretty regularly...

Used to shoot a lot of skeet, haven't for a long time. At that time the most popular O/Us were Brownings and Berettas, with Remington 1100s close behind. If you really get into the competitive shooting an O/U gives you the option of "tube sets" for the smaller gauges.

I still have my Left Hand 1100 Skeet i purchased new in 1975 . I sent it to Briley and had the barrel shorten to 24 inches and installed with their long flush fit chokes. This has been one of my favorite upland guns for a while. It still looks almost new. I take care of my guns.

Go handle a bunch of them and see which one fits and feels best for YOU. You will have a hard time busting clays with a gun that doesnt fit you.....

I've shot my father in laws Beretta 686, not a fan of it. He likes his Beretta and shoots very well it, I like my Browning. This doesn't mean that one is better than the other. Bottom line is, you need to go out and find one that has the most natural and comfortable fit for you.

I hate picking up empties so I am really leaning to another O/U. I realize that this is like asking do you prefer blondes or brunettes but................. Thanks for all of the replies
