So what to do with morel mushrooms? I have a couple of packs of them (froze) and am wondering what epicurean delight would call their name.

my favorite is to wait until the asparagus is up in the spring and then fry them in a little butter and serve them with steamed asparagus and broiled venison backstrap. they never make it to the freezer at my house.

We have morels that grow in our cabins yard that we pick and cook straight in butter after a good rinsing. No other spices needed. They are excellent. They do go good on top of a steak.

growing up, we split them in half, soak in salt water, then bread them in smashed up oyster crackers and fry in butter... and yeah, we never froze any or threw any out...

I love the taste but cannot take the texture of any mushroom. Instant gag reflex. I collect a bunch each spring. I dry them. Use them all year long in gravies and soups. Also are great chopped real fine in meatloaf.
