Yep, got that one from my Papaw, and I have passed in on to my son. I don't even have to say it anymore. Tide Jr, just offers it up, whenever he sees rain falling and the sun shining at the same time.

Can't say I've ever heard it, or even get the analogy.

Can't say I've ever heard it, or even get the analogy. Because there isn't one. It's just another of those "down home" American phrases like so many others that make little if any literate sense, such as; "It's a frog strangler out!".

Can't say I've ever heard it, or even get the analogy. It's not an analogy, it's a southern saying.

Absolutely!! And it scared the dickens out of us.
As well as there's a man in the moon and he was put there for burning trash on Sundays. Often times the dark image did indeed look like that of a mans head.

Anybody ever heard that used when it's raining but the sun is shining? My Mom (born and bred Texan and now 72) use to use it. I used it last summer and my American-Irish wife looked at me like I was crazy. She had never heard it before.
