A friend won this at a DU banqet and charged me with scoping and rigging it out as a varmint gun.I am not very familiar with Rugers. He wants me to bed it and float it.After taking it apart and seeing how they have the angled bolt in it that seems to keep a lot of slop out of it,is it really necessary to bed? It is a stainless synthetic.
Thanks in advance

Stainless synthetic (all weather). Yes, bedding them helps to maintain consistent poi...Better accuracy. If he would be happy with 1 1/2" 3 shot groups then there is no need to bed. Look up the bedding sticky as it pertains to the Ruger m77 action, I think you'll find it very helpful. What it all boils down to is how accurate does your friend want it. They can be very accurate if certain measures are taken like bedding and good handloads.....
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Here's my allweather (synthetic) stock that I glass bedded. It made a drastic improvement over the non bedded straight from the factory set-up: When you do it right it should look like this: Just for comparisons sake, here's what yours looks like: Pretty big difference

It was a fun one to bed since everything is so hollowed out on the bastid. Here's a thread I started that explains how I did it. Take my word for it, it makes a difference. So much more rigid now and accuracy is great!!: https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...B_weld_bedding_a_ruger_hawke#Post4509540
