My son has always been interested in long range shooting and snipers. He just brought a new baby into the house and I need to work up a diet for her. She weighs 14lbs, has a 26in barrel and wears the "Ultimate Sniper Stock". It a custom left handed Remington 700 ADL chambered in 06 with a custom heavy barrel that's ported and she has a great trigger. Not being into the long range shooting thing I don't have a clue on where to start with her diet. I'm an experienced hand loader and have alot of questions. First, Are the Lee neck sizing dies that superior to the full leignth sizing dies? What powders work best in these long barrels? I've used IMR4350 for the 06s. What grain bullet offers superior acuracy? I was thinking of starting with 150gr Match Kings, is bigger better? I noticed in other posts that most of the LRHs prefer Match Kings, are there other brands that offer the same performance? Is the 06 a good choice for LRH or should he consider having the chamber reamed for a different .30 cal.

Looks like you and your Son are going to have some fun with the 06 on the heavy barrel.

Before I would rechamber to something bigger, I would play with the 06 for awhile. The 30 Gibbs or 06 Ackley would add powder capacity to the 06 case after you Improved it.

Try the 168 Gr and the 175 gr Sierra Match Kings in it and see how it does with the H4350 and also the H4831 Powders. I prefer the H4831 in mine.

You will be surprised as to how well that rifle might shoot (used gun) if it hasn't had a lot of rounds through it already.

Seat the bullet about .010" off the lands and see how your accuracy is. You can seat them so they just touch the rifling and that may be better.

Good luck to you and the new "Baby".
