Hey everyone,

I'm looking to order a McEdge for my Remington Model 7 CDL. It is a 270WSM 22" barrel, same as the contour on the model 7 predator. What barrel channel inlet should I order? Are the contours for model 7's the same as model 700's, Anyone have experience with such in their own builds?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Brandon

If that barrel is heavier than a regular M7, tell them it's the factory magnum barrel contour & they should know what to cut it for.

I'm wishing I would have ordered mine that way even though its a standard bbl. Should lighten up the stock a couple ounces.

Is the standard model 7 contour the same as a 700 mountain contour?
My Model 7 XCR has a medium heavy 20" barrel in 308 but is not as thick as the CDL 270WSM barrel.
My brothers Model 7 is a 308 with a pencil thin barrel compared to my 308
I don't know what to classify that either. My XCR 308 seems to be the same as the standard model 700 contour

Just tell them in plain english what you have and they'll know how to inlet it. Remington M7 CDL 270 WSM factory barrel contour should suffice. I'd probably include the serial # in there also so they can look it up if there is any question. No reason to get too creative with it, McMillan has virtually every factory barrel profile ever made programmed into their computers, they'll know what contour came on a M7 CDL in .270 WSM.

Are the Model 7 contours the same as Model 700 contours.
Example: model 7 magnum vs model 700 magnum

my M7s in .223 and 7mm-08 have what looks to be the M700 Mountain Rifle contour

And does Remington refer to that as the Model 7 Sporter barrel?

don't know...one of the 7mm-08s is an LSS, the other is a FS and not sure about the .223. it is SS and came in the plastic stock.

the Magnum contour seems the same between M7/M700

You seem to want to make this more difficult than it needs to be. Why are you worrying about 700 contours when yours is a M7?

Read what Crow hunter said. Tell McM what your gun is & they should know what contour you have.

If you're really worried about it, measure the diameter & distance from the action in a few places and talk to someone at McM or PM ShootToWin or DickD (they both work at McM) & they should be able to help you.

The factory production rifles have two barrel contours. One we call the model 7 factory sporter contour and the WSM calibers are what we call the model 7 magnum contour. Wheather they are the same as the 700 mountain rifle and 700 magnum contours I don't know, probably close but we wrote the barrel progarms off the model 7 rifles. If they are custom shop model 7 rifles then they have their own "KS custom shop" barrel contours that are different from the production rifle. We call then the KS custom shop model 7 barrel contour and the KS custom shop Model 7 magnum contour.
