Center feed detachable magazine in 9.3x62.

Loading some 220 gr RN cast bullets for indoor plinking (10 gr Trailboss)

Magazine hold 3. If you load 3, two feed fine the third angles up and jams
If you load 2, first one works, second jams.
Load one and it jams.

I'm guessing spring pressure in magazine goes down with less shells and doesn't "pop" the last round up (It is not CRF of course)

Guessing they use the same spring for all calibers. Anyone have one in 375 Ruger ? (heavy cartridges as well) Thanks!

Have asked your question on the Savage Shooters forum. Right
now, only members can get into it because of troubles with
Russian and Chinese hackers.

One answer from "stangfish" over there:

"You are at the correct place to get an answer. I don't have any experience with this caliber but have tweeked the lips of the magazine to resolve similar issues with other calibers."

That would make sense were there a general feeding problem, but IME when it's just the last round it's usually a spring issue. Next mystery is how to disassemble the magazine. Thanks for your input !

Just thinking, but when you have a round on top of the follower the follower has nothing to do with the feed... on the last round it does.

I've never worked with a single feed Savage, but in this case, I'd look rehard at the follower. On a 9.3x62 the shoulder is farther ahead and the neck and bullet bigger than anything the factory builds for.

I'd get another mag and tinker buy making it lower at the front.

Thanks, found the fix from a 1911 reworker buddy. Teeny, tiny mod (bend) to the front of the feed lips, clean and dry lube the magazine spring and follower.

Works slicker than greased kitty litter now.

Wonder if 375 Ruger Savages have same issue ?

Obvious that Savage DOES NOT function check rifles before shipment !
