I lift weights year round and jog most of the year. This is not for hunting though. I would say long walks with packs would be the best exercise.

Gas up the buggy, check the tires, battery & oil, then fill the cooler.

Travis True that. Thirsty Thursdays were quite educational. To the OP, put weight in a pack and go. Go shed hunt. Go stream fishing. Whatever as long as you keep moving. Drink 2-3 gallons of water throughout the day. Eat descent, but don't go overboard with all that health crap. Eat what you want, just in moderation. Nothing will prepare you for the change to 10,000 feet except being at 10,000 feet. The best you can do is have your lungs as exercised as possible.

blackmamba,
Welcome to the campfire. Occatioanlly one gets some good info. I put on a fifty pound back pack and and walk up and down a sixty to sefenty foot steep place in the road to the barn. I start each year with about ten minutes and work up to thirty minutes. For me it seems effective it I walk at a 125 steps per minute pace.
Since I almost always carry my rifle in my hand, rather than on my shoulder, I carry an iregular shape rock in each hand.

Ride the Husqvarna all year long either in the woods or on the frozen lakes here in northern NJ. Quite a work out believe it or not, and at 58 yrs. old even more so.

I live at 60' above sea level. I walk almost every day and try to get in five or more miles a day. It does not always work that way but it is my goal. Part of that walk, about three and a half of those miles is on steep grades. It is an all year thing not just before hunting season.

I work.
Usually I have about 25 lbs. around my waist, and will walk quickly about 3-5 miles a day. With lots of stairs.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

I never walk up stairs, either.
I feel I owe it to myself to run them.

I lift weights the entire year, run the majority of the year, and walk with my backpack with a extra weight inside it. (Also jog a little with the weighted down pack)

I feel I owe it to myself to run them. Time was I did ladders with 165 pounds of weight but I never ran and that was forty years ago. No way I could do it today.
