What does everyone recommend with the price staying under 500? I want something with a lot of power. My Beeman S1 is rated at 900fps in 177 and its not dropping the crows like I need it to. Does anyone know if I can send in the Beeman to get redone for more power? Is that possible? I think a 22cal would get the job done better? I was gonna start looking at pyramid air. Thanks!

First off, manufacturers exaggerate their FPS numbers, it's called marketing.(it worked didn't it, you bought the gun) They also use the lightest pellet to get those numbers. Also, Crows are tough birds, unless you hit a vital spot, you're not going to drop it, especially with a .177.
A .22 with a properly placed shot will kill a Crow. More pellet mass means more kinetic energy on target. Kinda like a bus hitting a car compared to a bicycle hitting a car. Which one will do more damage?
BTW, the S1 has the power, just not enough lead.

I have a AA TX200HC in 22. I did have it tuned and put a Hawke 2x8 on it. It's taken out a few racoons, crows, and many squirells.

With the airgun I found you need to practice quite a bit to make sure you can shoot in quarter sized groups consitently. Pellets, flinch, non leaded up barrel all lead to wild shots. It takes a bit of time to get it right and head shots are a must (get a good scope).

Check out PyramidAir for used airguns too, maybe you'll find something. If you could expand your price a bit : http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Beeman_HW97K_Elite_Series_Combo_Air_Rifle/1886

This and the AirArms are all my UK brothers will use (although their challenge is to be under 12ft/lb in order to be compliant) and got me looking at this quality of airgun.

Wardman.
