Beautiful photos! Watched both of these species while growing up in the marshes in SE Texas. Love seeing them in nuptial plumage. Thanks for sharing.

Mudhen: Thanks, She also nailed a couple of coot shots too. Didn't want to upstage your avatar though.

Wow those are very nice. I can't pull any cam properties off the pics though?
What's the gear? Settings?
Very nice!

Northern Dave: She converts from raws to *.bmp, and downsizes every thing before going to Photobucket. Meta data does not make it through the reformatting. If you are truly intersted, let me know which images float your boat and I'll get on her PC and ferret them out.

No don't go through any trouble, I think you have figured out it's pure photo envy that drives my curiosity. And frustration with our own tele efforts. We were afforded a spectacular opportunity on a pair of trumpeter swans at about 30 yards a couple of days ago. But much our displeasure none of the photos are usable. Thumbs up to Cookie, beautiful shots.

Hitting "reply" to enlarge the photos really brought out a lot of detail. I like these!

Redhead Pair Always happy when she can get the eye. None of these are park ducks, so she's doing pretty good. Did not really nail the hen, but the drake looks good. She runs a Canon EOS 50D and a Canon 100-400 mm for most of her wildlife stuff. The meta data does not acccompany images downsized for Photobucket, but I suspect she had the lens stretched out and was at F 5.6 with whatever shutter speed the camera selected. Mostly I just haul her and the camera around and watch things. I might get my own camera in my next life.

Do you think this is a crop at 1:1?

NorthernD: I know the Redhead is cropped. She simply showed me a print and handed me the thumb drive when I asked for a copy to use as today's desktop. Her originals are 4752 x 3168. This one was 2572 x 1574 on the thumb drive, and I did a Photoshop resize to 1024 x 805 before uploading to Photobucket.
Our web feed is too slow, and I'm too cheap to spring for full size images on Photobucket. There are no marketing intentions, as it's just another reason for us to get out together.

Windy as Hell today, but Cookie gave it a shot. White Fronts 2 Snows Coot or Ivory billed duck Hoonker Hit the reply button for a slightly better look. The Ctrl and + key will also expand one view a bit. Ctrl and the (-) minus key will also zoom into ones web page.
