I like black electrical tape and use Johnson's paste wax for release agent. It seems to do the job for me. whelennut I didn't use any black tape but I used the Johnson's paste wax. Released alot better than the previous botched job with the parting compound. The wax is the way to go, thanks whelennut.

Here's what one of Redneck's tight bedding jobs will do: That's the first bullet/powder combo I've tried in the rifle, a '60 M70 action with a 300 Win Mag barrel screwed on. Shots 7,8 and 9 from the barrel (with 68.0 grains IMR4350) were just a tad over that during break-in, including shot #7 which was the fouler.

Here's a bed job with tape. Both methods work if done right, period.

This is five, five shot groups. Lots of clearance might work...... A couple of hunting rigs, both with .025-.030 clearance between bottom and sides: 250 Ackley Improved, #2 Hart twisted 1:10: Big .30 off the WSM case: Good shootin'. -Al

Oh ya Al, my target was (5) 5 shot groups with one 3 shot group all shot prone off the ground from a bipod and sock @ 100 yds...... (6.5x47 Lapua) I guess clearance works too...

Just finishing this one up, but here it is while it was sitting in the Pro Bed. Black tape provides .030 of clearance around all areas of lug but the rear, blue tape keeps the Pro Bed off the stock, blue tourniquet keeps it stress free while the epoxy hardens and guide pins center exactly in the center of the pillars. Good shootin'. -Al
