Until the middle child finally comes to visit Mom in Alaska. Daniel returned from his third deployment mid March and is headed my way for a few days to check out the base here, guess it's in the top 2 of his next base pick. It will be a quick visit but I'll try to jam a whole lot of home cooking and spoiling into his visit! grin

I hope you have a womderful time! Does Daniel have his own family or is he single? I know that Alaska can be pretty hard on spouses & kids, especially if they get their first deployment to Fairbanks.

Ed,
He is married but they have no children, their dogs are their children. His wife was actually born in Alaska, her parents are retired Air Force but she hasn't been here since she was probably 2 or 3. I think they would be fine here as we are from the cold icky part of NYS and right now he's at Ft Drum. He'd be here in Anchorage at JBER.

Very cool Annie, happy for you. My nephew and his wife own a home in Eagle River as Ft. Richardson was his duty station for several years between deployments. They plan to retire there.

Yes indeed, I think mashed taters, gravy, a roast chicken is in order.

Can I get adopted? laugh

I'm still not used to the "JBER" stuff. I grew up on and around those bases and always think of them separately. smile

I know you'll love the stuffin's out of them.

Tell him thanks from my family. If you remember ask what type of items do soldiers desire now while on deployments.

I'll ask him ribka, I do know he liked cashews, gum, hard candy, wheat thins. Toilet items were toothbrushes, soap, sunscreen , lip balm and small packages of unscented baby wipes.
