Seriously considering buying these. At $129 there a little high priced but sure are pretty. Wish they already had a full checkering pattern. But then again maybe that would ruin the looks. Cocobolo Dorado 1911 Full size, smooth finish, no ambi-safety. s/n CD27597: $129 ____________________________ Or maybe these, which are a little cheaper. Leopardwood 1911 Full size Smooth finish no ambi safety s/n LE2757E: $99 Phil

Before you buy them, Check Ebay. There is a guy that is selling some really fancy grips for a lot cheaper then that. You may find something you like for a lot less. Just a thought. Ryan

OR you could check out the most outstanding grips I have ever seen by hitting your search engine for Hakam Pek and feasting your eyes on the type of grips that will increase your pulse everytime you handle your 1911.
It isn't always about cost or where you can find something cheap. Not for a 1911! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Unfortunatl Hakan Pek is not taking any orders at this time. He posted some health problems.
This from a friend of his:
I spoke to Hakan yesterday and his battle with back problems continues. The medicine he takes lessens both his mental and motor skills therefore limiting his work. Hakan Pek continues to be my friend, a true artisan, and worries about any effect his illness will have on his reputation. 8/26/05 this is the last he posted still waiting to hear from him or Richard.
Hello everyone!
Thanks a million for the supportive and kind words folks....it really gives me a strength.
I've been out of the hospital for about two weeks now and I'm g basically running on pain killers.they haven't really done anything with me,except for some tests and a new appointment in October The problem with my back is a combination of things and I guess they don't know which one to fix first...or which is the most important one...of course this whole situation effects me emotionally too
I had lots of e mails waiting for me and I'm still replying them one by one. This takes some time and there is even more, so please be patient for your reply if you're waiting for one.
I'm also doing my grip work too.The situation has slow me down on my already backlogged orders, but I'm a stubborn person and I deliver the product at the end
With all these things happening with me right now, I regretfully had to come to the conclution of putting the order taking on hold for a while and catch up with the list I already have.
My replies to incoming e mails with a grip requests will briefly explain the situation and will leave the option of being placed in the list open if the time frame is not a matter...I've always had a hard time saying no to folks,so I thought this would be better than just doing that. I'm sorry and I hope you guys will understand my decision.I'm hoping to get back to taking orders regulary asa things get better.
Again...I appreciate the concerns you all expressed in this thread and I especially thank Richard for his phone calls to follow up the situation and for keeping you guys updated.
Take care y'all.
Regards,
Hakan.

T Lee: thanks for your update and post re: Hakam Pek.
For those that are addicted to eBay, GunBroker, etal and own a 1911 I recommend you buy any of the Hakam Pek grips you may find if you beat me to them. That is how I came to own three pair. I've never see such fine artistry in 1911 grips.
His website has a gallery depicting his many grip styles and wood selections. It is worth the visit.

This morning:
I spoke to Hakan this morning and his situation is unchanged. He goes off his medicines when he works on grips etc. I spoke to Hakan about a pain management course and he said he would look into it. He wishes he was in the USA as we care about him, his situation, and he feels we could look out for him better. Hakan sends his best to everyone. Regards, Richard

Try going to the hogue grips web site. They sell factory seconds at a huge discount. I have purchased several of them and there are no visible flaws in the wood or the checkering. You can have several pair of $20 grips to change when the mood hits and then if they get dinged up, there is nothing to grieve over.
