if a dog is truly trained to attack any and all, it's as irresponsible imo as throwing a loaded revolver into a kindergarten class.

you'd best be damned responsible with whatever it is Any "trained attack dog" that doesn't stop when told to stop isn't trained. Any idiot can own an "attack dog" because any idiot can teach a dog to attack. A properly trained dog is a useful tool. An "attack dog" needs killing... and that's exactly what this one would have gotten were it my woman.

She had just walked in and put her purse down when the dog came from a back room and attacked. She said she couldn't get to it or the pepper spray for trying to watch and dodge the dog.

Thanks Sycamore, but it was an oilfied workers mom who my wife went to visit. Not sure that equates to an oilman.

I don't mess with a few of her 'friends', as I like more normal people (hickey, down to earth, hunters, fishers, and other non interesting conservatives). so, she has a friend who is like about 55 who we don't know about her first hubby but we know she had a son and got married to a biker at a biker illegal wedding her dad didn't go to. Friend Mary moved in with her son who is like 30 and works in the oilfield and is not married who had been living with her dad who passed some time back. I haven't paid attention to all this 'til today, though I had been told snippets in the past. My wife told me she went over to see Mary who was moving to Dallas. She said Mary's son has a killer attack german shepherd. I said , Ok -a guy man has a freaking attack dog. To me that spells crazy azzed fking goofy bastid.' She says, "well, I've been over there before and her son kept the dog in the back yard. " I said , "those suckers are nuts". Well, Mary is having a garage sale before the move and wanted my wife to come over and peruse the junk and leave dough for doing so. Mary lets her in...they walk into the living room, and a humongous German shepherd attacks her. The f'er is jumping in the air snapping at her arms and trying to knock her down, and Mary is pissing and screaming after having forgotten to put fido out. Mary gets between my wife and killer, and killer is circling trying to get around Mary to my wife. Wifey thinks of Daniel in the lion's den and asks for the Lord to save her about the time he chomps her in the ass. My wife screams, and Mary says to not scream, as it will excite killer. WTF? Don't scream when you're bitten in the ass by a dog? Finally, my wife runs to the front door and gets outside. Mary gets the dog outside and collapses crying and saying she doesn't understand how my wife escaped from this dog which was trained to attack any and all intruders. Choose your friends wisely. Thank you Father. WOW... Did ya know that homeowner's insurance pays an automatic $50k for a dog bite? Automatic cut and dried out of court settlement, they know that more is the norm if it goes to court. Just sayin...Glad she's okay, I'll bet that scared the crap out of her.

I forgot one of my old favorite sayings in situations like this. "Bad dogs can go to hell... and I have no problem gettin' 'em started on their journey." Unfortunately most of the time the owner is the problem... the poor critter is just the result. I've seen well trained dogs. It's not a job for amateurs. Best trained I ever heard of worked together as a team. They wouldn't let intruders in while someone's at home, raise all sorts of ruckus until told to stop. But when no one was was home they were completely silent, they'd let intruders in, then wouldn't let them out.  Smart dogs. Smart trainer. "Attack dog"  I never like hearing that. Usually spells bad news.

Glad your wife is ok, sir.. Not a fun experience.. I love dogs but can't stand people who keep dangerous dogs. I wouldn't ever own one myself. I can't stand people who have a perception that a dog is dangerous. For example - there was a tall, older, lanky guy trotting down our road when I approached my driveway on the tractor.. My two Boxers were in the yard and are contained by their Hidden Fence.. The dude kept eyeing the dogs and I stopped to tell him 'don't worry about those two.. He remarked something along the lines of "....people who keep dogs that can literally kill you..." at which point I replied, "You don't know a damn thing about Boxers, do ya??" People who have zero education of dogs who insult ME pizz me off no end..
