I've been lurking for 2 weeks now and have enjoyed the topics, information sharing and conversation that is here on 24HCF and figured it was time to say howdy!
I got bit with the 99 bug in the late 60's when my uncle came back from grad school in Colorado with a 26" mulie and a 250-3000.
I've got a few rats and a possible safe queen that I will share with you. My latest purchase is a true rat, a Model CD in 243 and a Tasco 3x9. After thinking about for a week it was still on the rack and for 350$ it went in the safe. May carry it on the 28th if it shoots straight. The idea of a 6-284 by way of 260RemGuy really has me intriged, maybe an Ackley?

Let me be the first to "welcome" you to the Forum, PB... 'most all of us here have an on-going love affair with the Model 99 and we all "appreciate" the beauty, quality and workmanship of our "beloved".

Ahhhhh, YES! Like you, I'll be sitting in the woods at dawn on the 28th. of this month with my trusty "99" in hand awaiting that monster 10 pointer of my dreams. I've already picked out my "spot"... just south of "the swamp" on the high ground... over-looking an intersection of two heavily-traveled deer trails in the Moshannon State Forest north of I-80 between S.B. Elliot and Parker Dam in north-central Pennsylvania.

There's a 284 rotor on Ebay right now, better snap it up if you wanna build a wildcat.
