OP Hawken Campfire Regular H Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 625 Upstate NY	Quality of the new marlins is definitely on the rise. I recently checked out a few new guns while at a local gunshop near Ilion. Their actions were smooth,The fit was great, the finish was still a lot duller than I Like, but much better than anything I've seen over the past 2 years. I am an N.R.A. Life Member,you should be to.

The only thing I can pick apart is that the forend wood is a little proud. But then, it's also that way on my older Marlin. Being mainly a Winchester guy, I've always thought Marlin forends were way too generous. I'm pretty happy with this new 1895.

If you have not done so already, please post this on the gunwriter's section above. Lot's of Marlin bashing there lately and I think folks would be interested in hearing some good news about them..
