Anyone out there have experience with 375 and 416 Rugers having 'feeding problems'? I have heard this in passing and would be interested in your collective experiences.
thnx

I have read about that issue on this and other forums. No problems with my .416 Ruger Alaskan. Fine rifle, just what I've been looking for - 20" barrel, standard length action, non-belted case, CRF, stainless / synthetic. I've loaded Barnes X, Speer Mag-Tips, and Hornady DGX bullets with no feeding problems.

+2..........Never had any feeding problems with my 375 Ruger Alaskan. Quite a smooth feeder.

375 Rugers: I have an early production African, and an early production Alaskan(prior to sling attachment barrel band), and my son has one of the early production Alaskans. These have no issues with the feeding of 270gr TSX nor any of the 270 or 300gr Hornady factory loads including the 300gr DGX. I also have two of the latter production Alaskans(with the barrel band), these were not slick feeders. There were issues feeding the top round with three in the magazine. One of these has smoothed out and feeds reliably, accomplished by several hundred cyclings of a magazine full of 300gr DSX rounds. The other is almost there via the same method. I also had the stock replaced on the one that now feeds reliably. Whether the fit of the magazine well in the factory stock was/is a factor; I do not know. I do know I have several rounds with brass that are scratched and dented; and if saved would have a sizable amount of brass shavings that collect between the feed ramp and the chamber.

I had a 375 Ruger built on a M70 and initially had feeding issues but Redneck fixed it right up. It was a magazine box geometry problem. Since that initial growing pain, it worked fine until I rebarreled it to a 257WM.

I have a 375 Ruger African. Feeds slick with all ammo.

[ The only problems I have seen with either the 416 or the 375 were with the FN- steel jacketed DGX bullets on the right. If the lip of the steel jacket hangs up things quickly come to a stop. The same bullets loaded in my 375 H&H and my son's 416 Ruger also cause problems as well . Otherwise all the Ruger rifles in my camp have fed perfectly.

Had that issue once on a classic M70.

You've got a pretty sharp eye. Or could be from full length re-sizing that particular case a few times. Prefer to use the neck sizing die.

Himmlerr kinda implied the right question, "in what?" that is, of what action do you speak. I've had a couple of 'smiths tell me they'd not care to chamber anything related to the 375 Ruger in a mauser action, which had been my choice of starting point...

My 416 Ruger in the Alaskan won't feed the factory Hornady ammo for spit. I'm still working with it in hopes of getting things improved.
