The best darn deer season in America opens next Monday, when all the ridge-runnin' hillbillies head to Pennsylvania for their opener. While I won't be back out east to partake in this great tradition, I'd like to wish the best of luck to all the guys heading for the hills after the Thanksgiving dishes are cleaned up. To the groups who lost a cherished member since last season, my thoughts are with you. Good luck and good hunting.

I'll second the post. Good luck to all! Getting too close to my wife's due date for me to make it back this year. Second time in my hunting career I'll miss PA's opener and I'm bummed, but at least it's not work this time

Thanks for the good thoughts. I'll be in Sulivan County nears Worlds End State Park with 3 of my brothers. A good time no matter the results. Have a great Thanksgiving.

I'm leaving Florida in a few hours to head for the PA hills, wouldn't miss it for anything! Will be hunting the Sugar Bay area along Kinzua reservoir with a some friends and family.
Monday through Wednesday looks like it may be raining, hard to believe since its 9 degress F in Bradford at the moment.

Good luck to all,

Tioga/Potter counties/NY border area for me. Leaving early tomorrow morning, won't be back until mid-second week. Been building my travel pile all week, everything has been double and triple checked by now, will likely still have forgotten something....as usual, but never anything important.

About my favorite time of the year, definitely my favorite spot on the planet in late November. Best of luck to all.

Finally narrowed down the firearms yesterday: Heavy-barreled 25-06; M98 sporter 8x57; Marlin carbine 35 Rem and the new-old boy, a M92 Win. 38 W.C.F. Probably drag the M629 along too.

Hey 35Fan. Good luck, I am usually found near Morrison Campground on Kinzua but I got a buck last week of archery near Westline. Gas is too expensive to drive up from GA just to hang with the guys. I have the week off so I'm headed out to find another buck down here. Looks like it is snowing up there!

It's been a while while now but I have made two of those PA openers. They have no school on that Monday and almost everyone gets to go hunting.

There sure were a lot of deer then and maybe now. Some guy was up on a huge boulder at the spot I had scouted so I had to move on with my flashlight just before daybreak. Sure enough he shoots a buck and now it's about 9 am and he is dragging it uphill past me. This takes some time so he stops to talk and show me his 308 and give me a lecture on how it's greatest gun going and only if I knew better. Finally he leaves and a fork horn goes flying by me in second gear and I hit it with my 7mm RM and now it was my turn to drag out venison. Great country.

I hunt a friend's farm in Estella, just west of World's End. The first couple days will be here in Lycoming County, about 6 minutes from home. Doggone it, I'll have to sleep in till 0515. But I'm man enough to do it. Good luck to all.

Heyyyyy...

I'm leaving tomorrow (Saturday) morning for my bestest hunting buddy's cabin in the Moshannon State Forest near Penfield... north of I-80 between DuBois and Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

I was hoping to meet Jeff (Buckaneer) and his son, Eric, at a restaurant near Penfield this year, but Jeff couldn't make it (AGAIN!!!) this year... he's got a full schedule up there in Minnesota. I'm beginning to think Jeff doesn't WANNA meet me... 'cause I'm so much BETTER LOOKIN' than he is... hahaha!!!

But, "Thanx", Jeff, for your "good wishes". I sure wish you could make it this year, buttttt... I'll "take" that big 10-pointer FOR you... ok??? BTW, you promised me you'd make it THIS year (you "punked-out" on me last year, too... remember?!?), so now... NEXT year when we meet, you "owe" me a cold beer... ok? (Hehehehe... this way, I get a "free" beer!!!)

Soooooooo... next year when Pennsylvania's Buck Season comes around, you really need to stop at your sister's house and pick up your Model 99... and get to your Deer Camp near Penfield so we can share a dinner or two at that new restaurant I told you about... and have a few "brewski's" (Rolling Rock or one of the other "local" beers, of course!) together. That way, you can meet my sons and I can meet Eric... and we can tell "lies" about how many big bucks we've taken over the years. Hahahahaha...

Sorry you won't be there this year, Jeff... maybe next year, eh? Make THAT a "promise"... ok?

Strength & Honor...

Good luck cur dog, after three years of restrictions we should be looking at some nice racks this year.
Is Dunlo on the map, cant find it?
I'm off to Tionesta and the "big woods", there's supposed to be some real monsters running this year.
Good luck to all.

Things have taken an ugly turn. Rolled into camp today along the NY border, have snow on the ground and the temps have been in the teens overnight the past few days (14 at the moment). Was looking forward to an opening day with snow cover....but.

Weatherman says balmy temps in the 50s and possible rain by Monday.

This is just not right. Get an old buzzard's hopes up, then poof, no snow when ya want it.

At least one feller made it up here from North Carolina to hunt. He went by me this morning in his F250 like I was standin' still and I wuz goin' about 70 at the time.

Man, you guys are just killing me! If I was heading east, it'd be to Boone Mountain in Clearfield County. My my family's hunted that beautiful chunk of real estate for over 60 years now. It just kills me not to make it back. I'd hunt a little closer to Clearfield, but that's Ron T's turf-and the woods just ain't big enough for the both of us! Oh, and by the way, from what I heard from the locals he's way more ugly than me! Good luck guys-bring some stories back to the fire.

Well, it's Sunday morning now, and my thoughts are on the guys at camp. There's just something special about a crackling fire in the old wood stove, and the musty smell of the cabin, mixed in with some Hoppe's No. 9........ once again guys, good luck! Our boys will be getting together with the bunch from Camp Bozo for the annual Sunday afternoon spaghetti dinner. Everyone was at our camp yesterday for the Saturday Lake Erie perch fry. We are close friends with the guys from Bozo, and look forward to rekindling these friendships every fall. 'Wish I was there!

Sorry for the late reply. Dunlo is off of 219 east of the Johnstown Flood Memorial. I've have some friends at work that hunt up in your area.
