Welcome to the REAL world. sure. but how else do you continue to keep the economy of a military industry based nation afloat? Kids lives are worth keeping everyone else in SUV's and flat screens. The 'defense' budget is three quarters of a trillion dollars. Profits went up last year well over 25%. I guarantee you: when war becomes that profitable, we're going to see more of it.

Putting the discussion of other issues about women in the military on hold, women who can't meet the same standards as the men have no business in a combat unit of any sort, much less infantry. Put someone who is 5'4" and 125 lbs in hand-to-hand combat with someone who is 5'11" and 180 lb, everything equal except size, and I can predict with a high degree of certainty who is going to be left standing 90% of the time. Just because a lot of the Taliban guys the Army sees in Afghanistan are about the same size as American women doesn't mean that all of our future enemies will be that small, and you don't always get to snipe at your enemies from 300 meters away.

I work with guys on a daily basis who are either tabbed or spent time in a Ranger Bn. I didn't hear anyone supportive of the idea most of them stated something along the lines of they'll throw their tab away if it does happen. I wouldn't have a problem if they were going to be held to the same standard, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

It's getting to the point they're going to eliminate the appeal for young men in the military. It used to be appealing to young men because it was thought to be a way to prove manhood. If women are found in every aspect of it, that will go right out the window.

That is absolutely correct. They have no scruples and they really are derelict in their duty. I saw this in 1975, and nothing has changed since then.
They will not care what the casulties are and they will be many. This is not to say that there are places women can serve and serve admirably. Combat arms is not a place to have a social experiment; for anyone who has half a sense of history, look at what happenend to the occupation forces of Japan; take 2 look at what happened in Korea; take 3 to some extent the same damed thing happened in Vietnam, but also, one must give extraordinary credit to the VV; because in most instances they rose to the occasion. That is not to say that the volunteer army has not done good. It has established a sense of proffesionalism thru 3 wars that is unparalled.
Why do we need to screw with a good thing....?

Yup, vintage Obama on his quest for "transformational change". Break down as many societal norms, barriers, standards and create an environment where everyone can do anything! You must destroy society before you can rebuild it the way Obama and his crowd want. Its all right there in a book written by K. Marx among others. "Collecting information" and "setting a course forward" is code for gutless general/flag officer-speak for let's see how much we can get away with in lowering standards and the lie about readiness and combat efficiencies not being compromised. The die is cast my friend, we went though this in aviation some years ago. Makes them feel good and they don't give a schit on the price in blood we'll have to pay when women get in the way.
