We're home alread. it was deemed unsafe by the ship captain for a family outing on that water. Wind, lots of rain, and 3 inexperienced family people in the boat. Several went out in front of us and were back by the time we were packing the truck. I probably would have fished myself or with someone that can handle that type of situation but it wouldn't have been fun for Ma or the kids.

Mille Lacs does have that reputation. Sounds like a good move, even if not what you hoped for.
Sure would like to see some more walleye pictures. Been a long time since I fished for them seriously.

91* here Saturday. Very windy all weekend, but only a couple of drops of rain. We really need the rain right now. Cold front just passed through and the temps dropped over 10 degrees.

We need rain too. We put up 186 bales of hay on Saturday but we need another 200ish maybe, and I'm worried that they might get hard to buy pretty soon, dry as it is.
Cool today but headed up into the 90 this week.

There is zero chance I'm going to risk it with a kid in the boat. There will be lots more days to fish, hopefully with him too.

Wild weather here Friday. Hot and extremely windy all day. I don't recall ever seeing so much dust and dirt in the air here. Finally got some much needed rain last night.
There was a confirmed tornado up in the Wausau area. Fortunately there was little damage.
Have a great holiday weekend.

We got the rain, that's for sure. Had to be over 2" but I didn't check. There was even some roads closed here yesterday from the washout.

Jeesh, I guess I was wrong. We had nearly 4" of rain in my neck of the woods. Andover had 5.5". That's enough.

I'm prepping bout 42 lbs of pork for smoking/cooking on Monday. This is for Weezy's grad party next Sunday. I have to cook it ahead of time because it will take all of 12 hours to cook it down to pulled pork for sandwiches. There are 6 pork shoulders averaging around 8.5 lbs each prior to trimming. I trimmed off most of the fat and removed veins, glands, membranes etc from between the muscles. I mixed an apple cider based injection with balsamic vinegar and Worcestershire, soy sauce. Then I rubbed on a brown sugar based rub with a variety of seasonings such as paprika, old bay, tex joy, black pepper and such. Now the 40+ lbs of trimmed, injected and seasoned meat will sit in the fridge until Monday when I will start it at about 7AM. I'm going to smoke it HEAVY from the start and then gradually transition into just charcoal heat. Shooting for around 12 hours of 225-250 range for the heat. For those of you that are going to make it to the party, I'm trying hard to make this my best batch ever.
