Hello, I have a knife here, and I was wondering if someone could tell me what it is. Google kicked nothing up. It was a gift. It was made in Japan and seems to be well-made. It is very nicely balanced to the hand and holds an edge. The brand is Champion (I think, see the pic) and I really like it. Unless it's a collectible of some sort, I think it may become my new skinning knife for small game, after I make a sheath for it. Thanks in advance! Josh

I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

Looks like one I had years ago. I lost it when I was coming back from a hunt round a head land. I was walking along the edge of some rocks when a big wave came in, I jumped back out the way and the knife flipped out of the cheap sheath into the tide. It was a good knife, held a pretty good edge.

420 Stainless is stain resistant, but not a very good long term edge holding steel. Too soft. You have an economy blade, useful for a "truck knife" or a knife left at camp. Not completely bad, as the Japanese know how to make good knives and get as much from a steel as anyone. Keep a stone/DMT/rod handy for sharpening duty. You will need it.
You would find ATS34 a much better Japanese stainless for a blade. Plenty of surgical instruments are 420, but they are not built for long term use.

Thanks folks.
I have lots of Japanese and USA blades. The only Chinese I have right now is a Kershaw folder with a screwdriver and changeable tips. Sort of a hybrid screwdriver/combat folder..?
Daily carry knives are Spyderco Wayne Goddard and Ontario repro trench knife, M3.
I just don't have cheap knives.
This one being balanced like it is, though, may be good for throwing. I'll take it out later and see how it flies! Some folks have contacted me about these being available for cheap on eBay, so if it throws well I might get a few more!
Thanks!
Josh
