I have just aquired a Tikka M55 in 243, I plan to shoot it til the accuracy falls off, then re-barrel it to 25 Souper. Can any of you fellas give me any load data to help me out?

I know Wayne Van Zwoll wrote an article about the 25 Souper that included load data. I'll see if I can find it. Its basically between the 25-3000 and 257 Bob.

Rocky Rabb, a member here knows a lot about that one and I believe has done a couple of articles on it.

Seems like one could take 260 Rem data and pretty well start low and work up...

If you're going to re-barrel to a short action .257 caliber, it may be worth a look at 25-284 data to compare with the Souper.
For comparison purposes, the 25-284 is a near ballistic twin to the 25-06, but in a short action. Just an idea that might be a better mousetrap for ya.

have had one for years, a real deer killer. I use 120gr Sierras BTHP Game Kings. Current load is with IMR-4350, 43.0grs with WLR, 2730fps out of a 20" barrel. Have used RL-15 up to 40.5grs for a vel of 2914fps and a SD of 5.5. The 4350 load is a little more accurate. This was used as a climbing stand rifle so a 20" barrel was all I needed.Rick.

Use the same load data as a .250 Ackley. I used Sierra's load of 41.5 gr of Reloder 15 with an 87-90 gr bullet and it shoots little groups, with a velocity around 3450. I like the Speer TNT for groups, and Sierra's 90 gr blitz for everything else. If I shoot moly coated bullets I use about 42.8 grains. 760 worked well, too, but hot loads with ball powders down here can get a bit iffy.
It's really easy to make shoot. I used a reamer with a .289 neck, and .050 freebore. It's one of my favorites

Or the .257 Roberts. The .25-08 has a grain or two less powder space than the .257, but all .257 data (even +P) is on the mild side.
The .250 AI's powder capacity is just about identical to the .257's.

Trapper,
I have a Ruger 77 RSI in 25 Souper that I like rather well. I think that the shorter (51mm) case length allows a little extra COAL latitude with longer/heavier bullets than the longer (55mm) 25-284 or (57mm) 257 Roberts. It is probably a moot point for me, as 100 grain bullets fit my deer hunting needs perfectly in the short Ruger mannlicher carbine.

Another question I forgot, what is the correct max and trim length for this case?

Why not just avoid a bunch of questions/uncertainties/headaches/extra expense (I assume dies will cost more for the Souper) and rechamber to a .260?

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Check out Duane's Gun Repair with a web site of "www.duanesguns.com". He has developed a proprietary cartridge he calls the .257DGR which is a .260 Rem case necked down to .257 with shoulder slightly set back.He has quite a bit of load data and he is a very helpful person. His cartridge has virtually the same capacity as the 25 Souper and his data is with current powders and bullets.
