Just bought a '69 marlin 39a and am looking to put a skinner on top. Good choice? I see a lot of positive comments on some of the other forums but wanted to ask here since this one is my favorite Did you have to replace your front to make it work? THX!

I have a Skinner on my Marlin 1894 and love it. I replaced the front with a tru-glo. I'm not sure about your 39A, but on the 1894, the peep sight sat higher, so I needed a taller front sight.

I installed a Skinner front and rear sight on my 1971 Marlin 39 Century Limited.I first tried to get away with using the front sight that came on the rifle but the gun shot about a foot high at 25 yards.I ended up installing a Skinner front sight. You can do like me and get a Skinner rear sight and see where it shoots to.If it does not shoot where you would like it to then order a Skinner front sight. Skinnersights.com have a formula for figuring front sight height. They have great sights and Andy is a great guy to deal with.It is the only peep sight I will use.
