Hello all, my sweet angel of a wife of only an amazing and loving 4 1/2 years together so far, just got diagnosed with breast cancer. We are feeling pretty heavily hit here.

To begin with, many, many thanks to almost innnumerable people here who have prayed for me in the past 6 months as I have traversed some near death moments and weeks and even some who continue to pray for me and send me PM's to that effect regualrly. I am amazed and blessed beyond words.

Now, I am asking those of you who pray to please focus those prayers on my lovely bride, Sherri.

Even with what I have gone through in the past six months I GENUINELY wish it was ME going through this new challenge and not my beautiful wifey but our great God, in whom we totally trust and have unwavering faith, has chosen my beloved Sherri to go down this particular path at this exact time. I feel kind of powerless as I can do little but try to be a loving support, prayer partner and best possible husband at this time.

One thing I DID do, however, was look up Cancer Treatment Centers of America on line and call them yesterday to chat with an oncology specialist. What they offer sounds to us like a great option in care but we are both wondering if any of our 24hrcf Brothers or sisters have gone to them or know someone who has, if anyone has, we would sure love to hear of this and your experiences and opinions. We will need to prayerfully consider this option but only for a short while. We are NOT going to sit on this diagnosis, we are planning to move rather quickly to get this treated in the best possible manner available to us.

Thanks everyone. I should say that Sherri, and by association me, has an amazing sense of abiding peace at this time. God has been ABSOLUTELY FAITHFUL to provide this to her just as he promised in his word. Peace that makes NO sense humanly speaking but she has it and it is a joy to see it and God at work in her and in us. She has even been able to pray THANKING GOD for her tumor and diagnosis! We are certin that this is going to bring Glory and homor to him in some way, and it has already brought us closer together and closer to God both individually and as a couple.

May the good Lord watch over both of you. I go to the Siouxland Regional Cancer Center (Also known as the June Nylen Cancer Center) and have been a patient of Dr. Donald Wender since l986. I have learned quite a little bit in those years.
First of all you are doing the right thing in being aggressive. Some of the treatments can be rough but do not be afraid. Your wife is young and can handle it, no matter how bad it may seem at the time.
Secondly, find a doc you can trust. Dr. Wender and the others work closely with Mayo Clinic and when I needed kidney surgery they sent me to Mayo and I was pleased with the results. The local urologist said they would probably have to remove the whole Kidney, Mayo said they would just cut out the two small tumors and they did, leaving me with two kidneys. There was a third tumor in the other kidney which they "burned" out.
I don't know anything about the Cancer Centers of America, only the ads I have seen on tv. I do know that every oncologist I have dealt with has been top notch and they, and their staff, really do care about their patients.
I also went to the University of Minnesota for a second kidney operation (insurace reasons). Also top notch treatment.
My choice, go to Mayo. They are amazing.
Just a p.s. when I talked to my regular urologist about removing the tumor he said he had done "three or four." The doc at Mayo said he does about 300 a year. Good enough for me.
Give me a PM if you want.
Again, may the good Lord watch over both of you. He will give you the strength to deal with this if you ask for that STRENGTH.

I'm an oncology nurse at a large hospital. So, I don't know anyone who has used them, but I've heard good things about them. Best to you and yours.

You have our prayers. Don't know anything about that Hospital. My MIL had a cancerous tumor behind her eye. Hear in MS they wanted to take her eye. She went to M.D. Anderson in Houston and she has been cancer free for several years now with no loss of vision.
