What companies have you found to make good quality/well fitting backpacks for women? The girlfriend is wanting to get into backpacking and having bought cheaper packs before would like to find something that will last and is comfortable.

McHale, if you really want the BEST womens pack. Osprey packs also seem to get good reviews.

I'll second the Osprey, my wife has an Ariel 65 and loves it. Can't go wrong with the McHales or Mystery Ranch packs either but you'll spend a bit more money for them.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Granite Gear is also another company that makes good backpacks for women. My wife wears a Kifaru KU 5200 and likes it a lot, granted nearly 3X the cost of the Osprey Ariel, but it hauls weight like a champ.

The new KUIU frame and suspension is engineered with horizontal flexion for a frame that moves with you to maximize comfort and mobility. It also has a inset waist belt pivot and independent should pad adjustment that allows for a custom fit. First carbon fiber frame, and therefore the lightest.

I bought an Ortovox for my wife. She is a bazonko downhill skiier. The pack is for back country downhill stuff and designed for women.
