He's pretty sure a few cars are lost like mom's daily driver and his '64 merc.

As of now they can stay in his newr (07) shop because he built it up, but is still coming so he's not sure.

My BIL is trying to get into their place with a 4" pump to at least get the water out and keep up with the water coming in.

So send all the prayers you can north to them. ND and MrsND's dad may or may not be in some of the nasty too.

Wow! What the heck?! Are they getting THAT much rain up there?

Prayers sent

I missunderstood my dad. The daily driver car he was able to move up to the shop, which is not flooded yet.

BIL still hasn't been able to get down to them though. The County is supposed to be on the way to clear the blocked creek, which is causing most of the flooding in the valley part he lives in.

I'm not sure if any of his belongings are in trouble, sounded like the sump pump was keeping up the good fight for now but I suppose his outbuilding probably have some water in them.

He's not really into the sand country at his place yet either is he? That seems to be down the road more towards the lakes.

Even so, that is too much rain for any soil type to get rid of quiclky.

The radar didn't look promising for that entire area either.

Just a note of caution. Some basements will cave if they are pumped dry while the surrounding ground is saturated. Hydralic pressure can be pretty high. Block walls would worry me the most.

Because of where I live, I have specially reinforced poured concrete walls so I basically float the place.

Anyway, just a word of caution. Caved basements are worse that flooded basements - by far. Dangerous too

Thanks Brent. I don't think he'll have to worry about it becasue there is no way my BIL is going to get there now anyway. That area is under evac acoording to the Duluth news, which is the only info I'm getting.

I'm no longger able to contact my dad and stepmom, which has me a bit concerned.

Though I haven't talked to my dad, it sounds like they were evac'd by the fire department when my BIL got there with the pump.

It's not good. It sounds like the entire city and many surrounding areas are being declared a disaster area. Many areas haven't even been checked on yet becasue it's too dangerous.

Prayers sent to everyoone in the flooding area. I only have one local chanel and they didn't say too much of that on the news lastnight. I've pretty much been home since Monday, this week has not been a good week for work. I only got 2.47 inches of rain so far. At least I got lots of homework done.

I talked to my dad, FINALLY! They got evac'd out by a hovercraft up to the "copper top church" on top of the hill in Duluth and my BIL picked them up and took them to his place, not too far from daves dad.

My dad said water in the yard was neck deep and water in the house was 3-4' and climbing. I don't know what to say even...I'll be up there as soon as they let us back in though.

It sounds like anything that was outside is a loss of some sort....at least he got out of there.

Wow! That is bad news about the house. Good news about your folks though.

Duluth isn't the sort of place I would imagine this happening.

I hope the water will leave fast. Western Iowans had their homes flooded for a couple of months last year. Flooding is no joke at all.

I don't think anyone was prepared for it. I don't know how they could be. It's not really concievable in a city like that.

Hey Dave, I'm sitting having a beer with my friend Tanya and she started talking about this Mary trying to get out of Duluth for her mom's funeral. The more we talked here it is your step mom Mary. Mary's mom Aggie is Tanya's great grandma.
