Wind came up yesterday afternoon here in the bozone, and it was nasty.. Hot, dry and gusty.

There's already fire restrictions here (no fireworks except for the fourth, no burning) but it still scared the bejabbers outta me.

Almost 600 homes burned to the ground is more than enough for the month...

A fire near Pocatello, Id took out 66 houses yesterday. Last I heard, it's only 30% contained.

I'm sure y'all know unless you've been on biv for a month.

Colorado Spgs is in dire shape. DRY HOT is spread around the nation. In Ark as well, we've had SMALL fires but conditions are RIGHT to toast the country side.

May God send us ALL some rain. My heart goes out to ALL that have and are about to lose everything.

Good Luck to Everyone

For the last 9 days I've been out of the rain only two days..
From Kotzebue to Anchorage, to Soldotna to Fairbanks and back to Soldotna. Raining like a dog here in Sterling right now- and in Kotz too, according to my wife who flew up there this morning as we passed thru Anchorage. I'm going up tomorrow. It was a lovely two days in Interior, despite the "Adventure" - posted on the Alaska forum soon.

Fire generally makes for good hunting habitat- unless you are really into pine squirrels and chickadees...

July and August are going to be some long months in the western US.
Shades of 1988 I'm afraid.

Yupper, I'm afraid you're right. September and October won't come soon enough if July and August mirror June.
