the .375 Ultra is about the same step up from the .375 AI/.375 WBY as going from .375 H&H to H&H AI/WBY

capacities in H20 from QL

.375 H&H---95 gr.
.375 AI----105 gr.
.375 WBY---105 gr.
.375 RUM---117 gr.

.378 WBY---137 gr.

i'm shooting 235 gr Barnes TSX bullets @ 3100 fps from the SPS and 260 Nosler Accubonds @ 3000 fps from the XCR II.

With the 375 Wby still around, and the 378 Wby hammer thriving I couldn't figure out why Remington felt they needed to introduce the 375 RUM. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 375 RUM as far as I can see. It just doesn't do much more than the 375 Wby and a bit less than the 378 Wby.

My FN Sako in 375 Wby gets an honest chronographed 2,933 FPS with 260 AccuBonds. And, it does allow me to shoot 375 H&H ammo in a pinch.

When we could buy Remingtons in 375 RUM for around $650.00 I sure could see some reason for them; they were a great Hammer for a moderate price.

the "doesn't do much more than ..." argument could also be applied to the .375 WBY when compared to the .375 H&H.

Yep, that, too, and with the 375 Ruger and so on.

I think the 375 RUM is a well designed round. It came out in push feed Remingtons, however, and didn't get a toe hold for that reason, IMO. Too bad, too. frown

True, and the same for the 300 mags over the 30-06, the 7mm Mag over the 280 Rem, etc. But we gun owners can't help ourselves lol ...

don't get me wrong, i like my .375 H&H AI much, and i look at the steps up in displacement as a good thing, even if it is used to run the same speeds as the smaller cartridges, but at lower pressures, or same speeds from a shorter barrel.

it looks to me like we can neck up .300 Ultra brass and set the shoulder back when the .375 Ultra brass dries up.

Nice rigs.

Nope, don't have a .375 RUM. They hadn't come out when I had my .375 H&H rechambered to .375 Weatherby, which weighs around 9.5 pounds ready to run.

"The Point" of my previous post has again flown over your head. Didn't you hear the sonic boom? That should have alerted you you missed something.

Try again.

oxoxoxoxo's

i missed nothing, dumbass. you post on a .375 Ultra thread about recoil management, yet you don't even have a .375 Ultra.... some real 'perals of wisdom' you have there, too. "add a brake/supressor, heavier rifle, or learn recoil management". WOW, where do you get this stuff? Outdoor Life?

but it's not like i can't play the 9.5# .375 Wby/.375 AI game too, but that's not the topic of the thread, now is it?

Yawn...you missed everything. But I forgive you.

Light/mid weight 375s are the schit. This one goes just over 8lbs all up. I don't have a schit can deep enough to have a muzzle brake in my house, soooo yeah...

I love my 375 h&h with 270 TSX it has taken buffalo and hippo but I hate to say it my 375 RUM is better hits harder shoots flatter and it is noticeable on buffalo and plains game and I still love thr H&H .both of these were made by AHR and they feed and shoot tight groups neither has a muzzle break and recoil is not great as they have some weight.

I also love the 375 rum. Great caliber, hits hard and is extremely accurate. My gun is sub moa with factory stuff. Just getting ready to get some handloads going. Here is a pick.

My 378 shoots smooth with very little kick. You get use to it. They are well built rifle with a good rubber pad. I've even shot it from the hip a few times and it didn't turn me right round.

There is a .378 on GB in Anchorage I was lusting after. It looked unfired, emailed the dealer and corresponded with him regarding the rifle. But $1600.00...little bit rich for me, but still lusting after it.

Yeah they hold value pretty well. I'd hate to price out a new one. I don't even know if they know what Grade one american walnut is?? Do they still make rifles with wood stocks??
I had a tupperware stock on mine for a while but found it even heavier than the wood.

Nice rifle gun champ. looks like a healthy size rubber on it too. Dig that butterknife bolt. Certainly is a long action;
