here is a pic of my friend beside a gong we shot with it at 600 yards today, 104 degree heat, 25 MPH wind and mirage like looking through a moving river. was crazy easy to keep it ringing me beside a groundhog steel target hit easily at 600 yards of course I didnt have a T-1 aimpoint on it when shooting to 600. I had a leupold 18x target scope in larue mounts for that

Tell your friend I dont like his hat and War Eagle. I have seen your reviews several places. Nice job, the rifle looks interesting. Im sure you hate having to test it.

Folks, this is the first release of a new genre of 308 AR's. I have personal knowledge of another but I'm sworn to silence.

This lower accepts AR-15 uppers, NOT AR-10's. If these things run and hold together, it'll make the AR10 platform obselete.

So from what I read, it's peramanently an AR10, and with an adapter you can run AR-15 uppers, right?
My AR-10 / LR-308 is about 11-12 pounds all up, with Leupold scope. So does that mean that the Colt would weight he same in 5.56????

Not really, both the upper and the lower will be lighter than an AR10. It'll be interesting to see if they can achieve FN's 7.9# with the 16in barreled SCAR-17. Obviously, that is the gun all 308 military gas guns will be compared to in the future.

Obviously, that is the gun all 308 military gas guns will be compared to in the future. To me, the 308 is the upper limit for an "Assault Rifle". Battle Rifle, no, but it is the upper limit for something controllable and shootable for the average person in the former type platform. As such, I gotta question how much lowering the weight will increase recoil. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the looks of the AR-10 but the hybrid AR-10/AR-15 y'all are talking about is fugly. I mean, no offense to the owner, but it's nastier looking than a straight AR-10. I like the looks of an AR-15 the best. The AR-10 isn't downright ugly, but this hybrid is approaching it. So I gotta question whether it will obsolete anything given those two factors, even though the latter is just aesthetics and the first factor may be answerable.

The sub 8# SCAR-17 kicks a lot less than a 9.5# para FAL.
A richly blued, claro walnut stocked mauser "looks great". Gas guns? Not so much.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the AR design kicks too hard to be chambered in .308 - the sights whack you in the face from position, at least with carry handle sights. The sights need to be moved forward, like on an M1.
