But since nobody has a .223 barrel theyll sell me to make a contender carbine up for my 10-year-old nephew's deer hunt here this fall I may soon. About to cut the LOP way back on a tack-driver M70 Ranger .243 I picked up for a song last winter. Already popped the 2.5x Leupy HD on it w some junk rings. Gonna upgrade w Talley LW extra lows. Already told my brother I'm calling it "Project Six-Killer". So I may carve that into the stock wif a military stencil typeface. Nate will think that's very cool. Unfortunately daily gun handling and using isnt part of daily life anymore. I know it isnt for me anymore.

That and muzzle loading guns are often hand made, one at a time, which tends to mean no two guns are exactly alike. When your gun is unique it tends to have more personality and is likely to get named. Very few of my guns have been named. Those that have are unique in some way.
