Well said, Dave.

The wife and I picked 10 pounds of Black Raspberries yesterday. Man, are they ever good. I think I ate as many as I picked.

I did hear from Missy and that was great news, I have a half an hour before a meeting this morning and it's break tome besides. I'm going to try to call dusty right now to check in.

Report back in.

I seen the Muffy report the other day and that is indeed good news!

I did talk with him this morning. It was a good talk, I gave him the update from this end on cabin status, trails, blueberry report etc. He gave me the lowdown on his recent visit with radiologist. It sounds like they have observed some gains with the radiation he's received so far and at this point there are no plans to continue with radiation but rather to observe and hopefully all cancerous areas will stay as they are rather than progressing.

The idea that no radiation is currently scheduled for him is a very encouraging thing I think.

I'm hoping for the same sort of report and plan on the chemo side of the treatment plan. I really do hope they find that a break from treatment is the right thing, he could stand to gain a little back as the treatments have taken strength and energy from him. Not to mention the other side effects, being horribly sick and the sensitive skin from radiation. All of the bad things that one must endure as they attack the cancer with the treatments.

More than anything I'm praying that he can be afforded a break from it all so he has a chance to rebound from the side effects.

The mayo appointment is Aug 7 I think.

Basically a second opinion and evaluation of treatment up to this point as well as advice on plans from here out.

I think of Dusty every day.He seems to be handling this whole thing pretty well.Good for him.
Regarding this thread...it helped me tremendously when I underwent heart by pass surgery in 2008.I couldn't wait to get back to the computer. It also helps me every day.We are a family of sorts.
On to regularly scheduled silliness.
For my impending birthday I went to a friend's gun shop today and gave myself an early present in the form of a Rock island 1911A1.Been wanting one for awhile so loaded up some trading fodder and some stashed wampum and off I went.
I made the deal and went to the gun club.At 12 yards I put the first shot in the center ring right on top of the bull at 12 O'clock. What a great shooter!(does happy dance).I've had a good day.

If you have to take a second shot then you probably shouldn't have taken the first shot.

No bears and the bugs were managable. Did see a lot of deer on the trip home.

Sounds like a nice birthday gift Stan. I'm not a great pistoleer, but I can usually manage to put 50% of my shots into the traget with most handguns. The 1911 is the exception. I can not hit squat with one.

Dusty, hope all your reports are good.

Stan, that sounds like a very fun day and I laughed out loud at the "stashed wampum" comment! I would like to get a handgun some time but haven't pulled the trigger yet (pun intended)! I hope you get to punish some more targets soon.

Keep up the good fight Uncle Dusty!

Griz, how are black raspberries different than the red ones.....and don't say the color!

I think they taste a bit sweeter with less of an aftertaste.

Actually they are nearly seedless compared to the reds. They also have a much better flavor.

yeah the red ones are fulla seads.

We find the black ones here and there but they are definately not the dominant variety around these parts.

Yellow ones are good to. I remember eating them at my Grandfathers' cabin as a kid.

The yellows I've had didn't have much flavor to them, but they make a darn good brandy cordial. Cousins husband makes all kinds of brandy cordials fromm their berries. We had to sample them when we were there. smile

The yellow raspberry cordial was very mild and concealed the brandy flavor. My personal favorite was elderberry.
