The only gun I took was my 300WSM with Barnes 168 gr. TTSX .
Longest shot was about 125yds.
I think will work for everything in SA but would be a bit light for Eland which is on the menue next trip . For that I have purchased a 416 Rem. shooting 400gr Hornady DG loads. Shoots quite well I must say and less recoil than I expected.

FairH, ok, thanks, I am going to RSA, hunting the first week of October and just wanted to know how you 'made out' with those animals...I am going after Kudu, Impala, & Springbok.
30-06 should do the trick.

You will be fine , Maybe a little light for Kudu but like has been said before , Kudu are soft .
