Hey Guys - I'm a big Tikka fan. I bought a Deluxe Whitetail Hunter back in 2001 and it is probably one of the nicest rifles ever assembled. I carry a T3 light for deer. I do not, however, like the current wood hunter model. I just saw the FOREST model, and it looks much nicer, with better checkering, and a roll over cheekpiece. Anyone have any experience with this model? Comments? Thanks http://www.tikka.fi/t3models.php?forest

Wow! Now I could like that. Have a 695 myself in 280 with a more traditional stock than the new ones and really like it

I know - the Whitetail Deluxe I have is the M695 in .300 WinMag.
Sorry to say, but I just got off the phone with one of Beretta's galleries, and the FOREST model is not coming to the US. I am officially bummed. I think the action on a Tikka is slicker than snot on a doorknob.

How would one go about getting something that beretta does not import? Our Sako's and Tikka's come through Stoeger direct from Finland. Beretta has no hand in it. There are businesses here that export to the US all the time.

And just how much does that drive cost up? Because knowing I could get a T3 Hunter SS fluted at a reasonable price even tho beretta says they arent importing them would sure change things. The Vanguard I am planning on for hunting season is a second choice to the Tikka

Hoping blargon will chime in and tell us. Because if these rifles can be gotten at reasonable price, the vanguard project will be scrapped

It can be done, however you are looking at $2-300 to do it, depending on your FFL fees and the shipping costs. On a Tikka rifle, it would put it higher than most would want to spend, considering most of your rifles are cheaper in the US to start with. Here is the procedure from one dealer here... Exporting Firearms to the USA Here's what you need to do to export a firearm to the United States:
-Locate an FFL (Federal Firearms License) dealer willing and licensed to import a rifle/shotgun, (we can assist with locating one, if need be). -Apply for ATF form 6 and 6a approval through the FFL dealer. Note: Most dealers will charge $50 to $80 for this service. -Wait for the ATF to approve the permit. This can take anywhere from 12 to 30 weeks. -Send the approved permit to us. We will then send it to the Canadian government with our application for export and de-registration. This typically takes 2-6 weeks. There is a CAD $50.00 charge for this service, plus CAD $35.00 for Prohibited firearms. -At this point, the firearm can now be shipped to the US. Unfortunately, US law requires that the firearm be shipped by air, which will typically cost $95.00 for a handgun, and $160.00 for a rifle or shotgun. Note: The ATF dealer must be willing to pick up the parcel at his or her nearest International airport
Due to the timeframe involved, we must insist on full payment for the firearm before the export process will commence.

blargon - Thanks for taking the time to reply. Well, given the time it would take, and the fees involved, you're right - I might as well buy a full blown Sako.

Wow, what a process. So in only 6-9 months and probably well in excess of $1000, you too can have a Tikka Forest. Just in time for deer season 2013... Ouch. Perhaps that Vanguard project is looking pretty sweet right about now.

I could get someone close to that. I have a T3 Hunter Deluxe with DNZ base/rings and a new Leupold VX-II 3-9X40 on it. It just sits in the safe. Under 1K and in time for 2012 deer season.

The pieced together 708 Tikka Hunter I offered you is a hammer. I shot it this past weekend.
I should have just bought a [bleep] T3...

Late to this discussion. The T3 Forest is available in the USA. I have one in my safe in .260 Rem. My first Tikka. Love the rollover cheek piece as the cheek weld is just right for me.
