When my stripped lower grows up, he's going to be a nice little pseudo-subcarbine; finally ordered the Model 1 Sales kit. The specs and accessories currently planned are as follows:

-M1S 7.5" A3 kit w/ picatinny rail gas block and Young FF quad-rail
-FDE AFG
-FDE XTM handstops for siderails, to prevent reaction hand from sliding forward and touching the hot gas block area
-FDE XTM rail cover over top handguard rail
-Daniel Defense fixed front sight
-FDE MBUS rear sight
-Bushnell TRS-25 on high riser
-Magpul FDE trigger guard
-FDE MIAD grip
-MS3 sling and forward sling attachment
-YHM phantom comp
-CAA tan stock saddle
-Cane end on buffer tube
-Streamlight TLR-3 mounted on gas block
-FDE pmags w/ ranger plates (to complete the color-coordinated build!)

Now I just get to wait the six weeks until the rifle kit gets shipped, ugh. That gives me time to buy all the other junk, though, at least.

Now, I just get to dream about suppressors being legalized in MN, so I can stick a snubbie one on here, get some frangible ammunition, and have the sickest home defense rig ever. laugh

Isn't the bottom of the TLR-3 plastic? I wouldn't mount it on the hot gas block.

Polymer. I haven't been able to find anything decisive on whether or not it can take the heat, so my plan is currently to slap it on, and if it's obviously getting too hot, I'm going to put a riser under it for a little heat sink.

I've read one review that said it got soft and the guy moved it before any damage was done but a test would be a good thing.

Well, damn. Maybe a tlr-1 is a better idea.

I don't know, I just don't care for railed gas blocks but I don't mind attaching things to a standard pinned front sight base. There was a lot of discussion on the Mossie Tactics FSB light mount on m4carbine.net. Might be worth a look.
