Lonesome Dove does bring a lump to my throat, but the one that rally does me in is My Dog Skip. The whole family was squalling like babies when we watched it.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. - Mark Twain.
Welcome to my world too Steve; "Hey mom, dad's watching that [bleep] western again!". I get the same song and dance every time Tombstone comes on or Quigley...
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”
My in-laws live on Lake Arrowhead, near Wichita Falls, Tx. Father-in-law took me riding around one day, drove past McMurtry's childhood home outside Archer City. He had just moved back, was running a bookstore and writer's workshop "in town". I can see that as being the kind of country that would inspire stories like "The Dove".

McMurtry has a 100,000 volume book collection in Archer City he is auctioning in the very near future. His west coast collection is approx a million and is electronic. His words from the paper this morning 'synopsized' were that although his heirs were literate, the weren't book people and he didn't want to burden them with the sheer size of the collection. Mr. McMurtry is 75. Archer City is exactly the type of place that inspired "Last Picture Show'.

Quigley had a Sharps rifle, and Laura San Giacomo it ain't gay.
I think my "rep" for large racks is well established AND Lonesome Dove has Diane Lane and that also most certainly "ain't gay" !
