According to some members here.....can't hit the broad side of a barn with them. I, myself, have personally had great luck with 257 Bob's in both Classic Select and Montana variations, a 223 Montana, and a 25-06 Montana. They are all terrible shooters......with the 257 Montana shooting 75 Gr. VMAX's into the .2's (3 shots at 100 yards). Just awful. And yes.....they are a fantastic value. Do a search and you can get some more poop on them.

Love my little 270 84L MT... cut the barrel to 23" (fits the rifle better IMO than the 24" length).
Took an elk with it last fall, plan on doing the same this fall.

Recently purchased a Kimber 84L in 270, broke in the barrel with Winchester factory ammo and was getting acceptable results. Now is the time to reload to see what it really likes! Anyway go for it and don't look back. We only go around once! Good Luck!!!!

They are some wonderful rifles. I have two of the M's, a 223 and a 338. I have always liked the wood stocked Kimbers. A 30/06 Classic wouuld be wonderful.

28lx-what kind of rest, bench set up are you using? Tripod front and bunny bags, sand bags and or some sort of rest like a Lead sled.
Thx Dober

I handled a Montana 280AI recently that another forum member owns, and all I can say is wow. I honestly don't think there is a better lightweight rifle out there, nor one that can top the 84L.

Between the 84L MT and the 84M MT I go back and forth between which I like better... So I've got one of each (270 and 308) which pretty well settles the problem!

In my humble opinion, the 84L and 84M are the best values out there in a hard nosed foul weather rifle. Generally ready to go out of the box with a minimal amount of effort.
