I too passed up Devile Tower a number of times. My wife finally put her foot down and said she wanted to see it. Sorry I didn't do it earlier. It was a great place.

I've been to Mt Rushmore 4 times and I never get tired of it. Never been to Crazy Horse though. I'll have to check and see how far along they are with it now.

Crazy horse? Meh.... I can leave that out of my vacation plans for a number of reasons.

My opinion... You can see crazy horse from the highway as you drive past it, good enough.

lol!

Needles drive is a must do, wind cave is pretty cool, devils tower very cool..

I'm jealous, sounds like a fun trip.

Don't overlook the Badlands National Park. I find them a 100 times more interesting than the Black Hills. Bighorn, bison, pronghorn are all very abundant and there are some huge mulies out there too. Just a cool place to hike around with lots of fossils to see as well.

August, I believe, is the rut for bison so be especially careful around the bulls. They have no sense of humor.

We are at Mayo right now. Very ahead of schedule. Waiting to get the CT scan done. It is 9:10 and bood work is already done & that appointment wasn't till 9:30. This place is very amazing. It is HUGE! Everythiing is marked really well, there are many people here to help you find your way where you need to go.

Actually, Crazy Horse was one of the more memorable parts of our trip. Not so much for the view but the documentary video of the man that started it and how he would lug his pick axe's and dyanamite and jack hammer and air hose up a make shift ladder, get half way and his old crank start generator would quit. He then would crawl all the way back down and crank it back up, crawl up and load his tools back on his back and climb a little bit and the generator would quit. Down he would go again. smile It was an amazing tale.

Agree on the Badlands Brent. We've gone through several times. The last time we were there we saw half dozen Big Horns grazing right by the entrance. Neat welcoming comittee. smile

One advantage to being a senior is that we get into the national parks and historical sites free if we have the senior pass, which costs a one time fee of $10. It's saved me a lot of money over the years.

Dad pointed that out on the way here. We will have to see what time we get done tomorrow.

We are back at the hotel. Dad is resting, lots of walking today. I went to Walmart and got him microwave mac & cheese. That & soup is the only thing that sounds good to him so i picked up both.

He had bloodwork and a CT scan done today. We meet with the doctor in the morning to find out the results. Will keep you posted. Thank you everyone for all the support and well wishes for my dad through all this.
