Using jacketed bullets, does anybody have any recommended loads for the 375 H & H that are about 1/2 to 3/4 power. I plan on starting with these reduced loads and work up as I become accustomed to the recoil.

When I first started reloading for the 375H&H, i rolled up some "reduced loads" with Sierra 200 gr flat nose bullets and SR4759 powder.... Can not recall specifics, but, they actually shot fairly accurately...

Have you considered a more standard load with lighter weight bullets? That's how I started and then never found recoil an issue. My fav load is 74 gr RL15 over CCI LR (not mag) primers and a 270 gr TSX. Have never had a need for more than that in the 375.

i loaded some 235 grain speers with 21gr of trail boss. hadn't had a chance to shoot em yet. According to reloading data, should get about 1200 fps or so. I'll report back when i get em in the gun

Try Lyman 375448 (solid or HP) and 35 hrs. of Reloader 7 for starters. I use it for whitetails and hogs as well as Lyman 375449 with the same load. 15-16 grs. of any medium burning pistol or shotgun powder will work as well. Approximates 38-55 power. Good for 1" to 2" multi-shot groups. Shoot them as cast and tumble lubed in generic white lube. I use 300 grs bullets for serious work over 77 grs. of 4350. Sighted in at 2and1/2 inches high at 100 yards it on out to 325 yards with the same trajectory as 180 grain slugs in my 30-06. Will handle anything in North America and most other places on this Earth

I have used 260 gr. Cast Performance .379" FNGC originally designed for the 38-55 with 30gr of IMR4198. You can find this in the Lyman #49 Handbook (or Loaddata.com). Chrono's about 1550 FPS out of my Rem700 with a 24" barrel . Makes for a great plinker load, wanting to try it on whitetails this year.

An acquaintance of mine has a 375 H&H in a Voere. Plenty nice rifle, but he is a 145 pound slender, non muscular type, that thinks he needs 4500 ft pounds of energy to kill a moose. The recoil of the 260, 270, and 300 grainers was way too severe for this man, so I initially told him to buy a 308, and he said no. I did a bit of research and came up with a load of 56.0 grains of IMR3031, a LR primer (Winchester) and a Hornady 225 SP bullet. It recoils like a stiff 30-06 now, which I believe is still too much for this guy, but he won't listen. I was able to get two rounds touching and one just beside it at 100 yards, but his "pattern" looked like an eight and a half by eleven inch piece of paper. I think if you want a lighter recoiling round, a lighter bullet and a faster burning powder (lighter charge weight) is the answer. It works.

One of my favorite "light" loads fr the 375 H&H is 68g rains of Reloader 15 and a 260 grain Nosler Accubond. In my rifle this provides 2650fps. Not quite a 75% load, but just enough reduction to keep the shooting of multiple rounds fun.
